HD 2 Hosereel fitting.
« on: April 19, 2022, 04:36:08 pm »
Has anyone replaced this fitting when I turn the bolt to undo it from the hose reel itself the spindle on the reel just keeps spinning so I’m unable to get the old one off,any ideas would be good.
Thanks.

Gotta be honest, I think the waterworks reels are a bit pants.

That’s coming from someone who has one  ;D

Can't you stop the spindle spinning with mole grips?

Any particular reason why you think that?

Hi SB I’m going to have to try something like that tomorrow or put a screwdriver in one of the holes beside the spindle, that thread is only 3-4” long but I can’t loosen it without it spinning.
It’ll be like having a new reel if I can get it fitted as it’s complete with the barb with the washers on.

I’ve had a few problems with mine, and if there are any threads on electric hose reel issues, it’s always the waterworks ones.

I like them, but they defo have there issues.

I reeled out all the hose and it looks like if I can get a large spanner 🔧 on the left where the spindle starts it may stop it spinning and will allow me to loosen the outer nut, honestly though it’s been a great reel I’ve had no other issues with it I would just like the easiest way to change this part if I could get hold of Jordon I’m sure it’s simple.
Very difficult to get hold of anyone at Waterworks these days.

It’s leaking after I’ve changed the washers multiple times I think the whole unit is not sitting properly as there seems to be a lot of play in both parts,a completely new unit will solve the issue it’s just fitting it.

When it’s not seated properly it starts to leak but this happened over years not weeks or months,it’s been a fantastic product.

Sorted it now and it couldn’t have been easier you have to wind out all hose and inside the reel there’s a small Alan key 🔑 nut that you have to do up to stop the spindle spinning, lovely stuff not one spot of water dripping now 👍.
Thanks for help though.

On the left of the hose reel inside there’s a black torque-Alan key screw if you just tighten that up it stops the spinning so you can undo the nut on the brass elbow and replace with a new one, once I’d found the screw it’s simple just have to reel out all the hose first took me 10 minutes if that PTFing took longer to do than fit the actual elbow.
