Do you think that just wearing a pair shorts and no top this weather looks un-proffessional, or do you think its OK considering the heat we have at the moment?

All my guys wear company clothing. We have fleece's, T shirts, Vest's

It doesnt make any difference what your wearing your clothes dont clean the windows and as long as the job turns out good the customer isnt going to give a toss what you look like.

I think its hugely important, how you present yourself.

I suppose if you have regular customers then you'll get away with a more casual look, especially in this heat. If you're like me and trying to gain new customers then the shorts and no top is a definate no-no in my opinion.

One of my new customers only commented last week how she was approached by a couple of window cleaners a while ago, but she said that they were ' a right pair of scruffy beggars' - lol.
There was no way she was gonna let them near her house.

I just wear a short sleeve red polo shirt and i have a pair of grey 'combat' trousers. They're nice and light, the 6 pockets are a godsend and they look nice and smart with my grey unger urgo belt and boab. Seems to be working ok, i'm picking up work nicely at the moment.

I,m still picking up work niceley aswell and i,m in the shorts brigade even quoted a job last night worth £25.00 turned up in shorts gave the quote got the job cant see what the fuss is all about.

I go Topless on big commercial jobs only.  And only when there is no staff there and it is weekend so no one can see me.

Shorts are fine, In Cornwall shorts are worn year round by most tradesmen, Have you noticed Postmen and Postwomen are wearing shorts at the moment.

Residential customers appreciate the need to keep as cool as possible and we have had no complaints of working topless.

Would not consider doing any commercial work without T-shirts unless its a school done on weekends/holidays.

Dont see the problem in these temps though and if you do the work properly who really cares

Image is important and depending on the type of work your doing will depend on how you present yourself.

Commercial and large ("well to do type") establishments expect you to be presented in a professional manner. Image is everything with these people and it matters alot.

75% of normal everyday houses don't care how you look and are more fussed about the cleaning.

It really all depends on what type of work you do?

If a solicitor turned up to your door in just a pair of shorts to come and visit you, I don't think anyone on here would not think he was having a laugh and would be uncertain about his "professionalism". Well we are exactly the same, we are also "Professional"

Like I said, its how you view your customers perspective and what value you place on image?

Well Trevor and i,m being honest with you now my freind if my solicitor turned up at my house in a pair of shorts i wouldnt careless as long as he provided me a good service and did what was asked of him.

Granted it probably wouldnt look proffessional if he turned up at court in a pair, but that said it wouldnt stop him doing his occupation correctly if he did.

Alot of this image thing is nonsense have a good look at a lot of people that are wearing so called uniforms and they look like sacks of ###t.

Thats fair enough Ronaldo, like I said its peoples own perspective of what they want.

I am only speaking from my own experiences. I clean a lot of country mansions and stately homes and if we turned up half naked we would be shown the door. They just don't appreciate it. Hence why I gave everyone a Company Logo Vest.

The thing to remember is people mix in similar circles to themselves, we have picked up so much work from recommendation and thats what counts.

Granted, you could wear what you like and the end result will still be the same, I just wonder how many people who see us working judge us on our image, especially when they can't see up close the standard of our work?

I wear shorts in this weather but the half lenth one's and also wear an embroidered polo shirt all the time.

Shorts and polo shirt the same colour.

I don't think my customers mind as it does look smart and i do a mix of commercial and domestics.

I wear shorts as well, but the longer cargo types,witha polo shirt or t-shirt, as long as you look fairly smart it doesnt really matter
