Price Rises taking effect!
« on: March 16, 2022, 08:10:23 pm »
Price rises for nearly all our customers from 1st April onwards.  Customers all received letters.

So far lost atleast 6 customers.  Yippee!

Oh no what am i going to do, this is terrible  ??? ??? ??? ???

Na, but seriously will be interesting to see how many we actually lose by the end of April.

No doubt i'll just do a big lead generation campaign probably in may to replace the customers who are otherwise going to go bankrupt from me putting the price up from £15 to £16  ;D ;D ;D

Actually had one 8 Weekly customer who has been on the books for 5 years tell me in no uncertain terms that the £1 increase was not feasible at this time.  Right so 50p increase per month and in her eyes she can't handle it!  Just for clarity she lives in a 4 bed detached house brand new cars probably in her 50s i know she has money lol. The job also happens to be underpriced anyway as it was canvassed 5 years ago so too be honest shes doing me a favour really  8)

Good luck with your price rises guys lets hope the losses can be kept to a minimum ay.

If you’re gonna put them up, put them up properly. £15 to £16 is hardly worth bothering.

Regular small increases are better swallowed that irregular large increases and better for maintaining your income. Off the top of my head £15-£16 is 7.5% or thereabouts isn’t it? And across 500 customers that’s £6,000 a year. If you’ve not put them up for years I’d agree though.

I’d disagree. Every time you put a price up, especially in this climate, you present an opportunity for the customer to cancel.

I’d much prefer to put a £15 job up to £18, once in three years, than increase the price by £1 for 3 consecutive years.

Just from my experience anyway.

I think it's hard to fathom the logic of customers that cancel tbh and I've no experience of waiting three years to put prices up. From a business perspective though, you should increase prices regularly to maintain your profit. If you wait three years you'll have lost money during the period. Customers cancel all the time. As long as you are replacing them it isn't an issue.

I agree with that if the £18 puts the price on the high side, if you put it up to £18 after undercharging for three years then that could be  a mistake.
I put mine up every 18 months or so, and put them up a chunk and then say, that price will hold for at least a year
only 20% of people buy on price alone, most people will pay ore for a better product or service, and you really don't want that 20% who buy on price alone, well I don't want them I want to retire one day.  ;D
A manager is generally someone who has been promoted to the position by someone else who didn't see them as a threat.
Hence all people are promoted to the level of their incompetence

Is there anything that you are paying the same for today that you were paying two years ago?

i dont agree with this TBH. £1 increase on customers of 10-20 is alright. between 5 & 10%.

obv it depends upon how often your raising them, but on the face of it its fine

They’re just cash cows to me, I’m under a stampede of bovine customers, my dairy is full but I’m going to milk them for all they are worth.

Just joking around mate.  Honestly though greed doesn't come into it.  From the price rises i'm doing all the extra money is going straight to my staff pay increases, and rising business costs.  Ill be lucky if  there's much left over for me to take at all.....

I agree with deegee I put mine up every few years every year seems to quick in this game, going up again I can hear it now from some.
Commercial and properties that spend 50-100k  a year in maintenance go up every year they expect it they pay more for materials for the garden etc every year but I wouldn’t have ever put small domestic houses up year on year, asking to get cancelled and especially at the moment just ride it out just do another couple of jobs a day it’ll make up for it on the way home.

I picked a new job up today, normally I would charge around £20 for the type of property but went in at £25.got the job.new work is priced higher and older work will get an increase eventually just not every year....

I'm happy with my income of around £50k a year for a part time window cleaning round (20-25 hour week)....
