Anyone else feel like we are living in the wizard of oz?
« on: February 23, 2022, 09:47:50 am »
I’ve never known such a wet and windy start to the year.

Or is it just me mis-remembering? I’m up in Scotland, and although we missed the worst of the storm, we’ve had constant 40mph +  gusts for weeks. Then we’ve had sleety days of ice cold slush followed by rain. I think I can count on one hand how many days this year that I’ve worked and not had to deal with bad weather.

I’m starting to think tornado alley has migrated to central Scotland. This morning is unworkable again for me, then when the winds die down to a gentle hurricane later in the day the heavy rain moves in.

Has this been a particular bad start for the year for everyone else or is it just me? 🤷‍♂️

It’s good to have a moan sometimes i suppose. 😁

Roll on the spring time, I’ll pop the kettle on.  8)

Same here in north county durham almost every day fighting against the wind and rain. Can't wait for a decent spell of weather so we can just get on with the work as scheduled.
The wind is really picking up here now so going to get done what we can then sacking it off for the day at lunchtime.
Hopefully spring is not far off now  ;D ;D

I keep thinking of Tradman that lives in Aberdeen when the weather comes on it seems as though for weeks it’s either been rain wind or snow up that way, working traditional like he does it must be a nightmare at the moment.

It's defiinitely been challenging and a record breaker,  for some Sunshine for others Rain!
The year began with the UK having the warmest New Year's Day on record.
It was the sunniest January on record for England.
Parts of north-west Scotland had less than 20 hours of sunshine through the whole month.
Time to move down south! ;D

I really feel for you guys up north and in Scotland,I'm down south I've had my best winter since starting up thirteen years ago,I've only had to put my winter coat on a couple of times this winter, and only had to put a heater in my van overnight about five times.
On a positive not for you northern guys ,Spring is on its way

I’m on the east coast of central Scotland and up until last week the winter had been very kind. The last week has been windy but luckily most of the rain has been overnight. To be honest I think we’ve missed the worst of it here and I’ve still been able to work for the most part…….it’s more the golf that’s been affected as it’s been too windy😫

I've been bored being stuck in because of the weather. It's times like this I wish I was still doing watercolours or sculpting.
If I only had a art :'(.

It's given me time to think about my prices though and I've decided to put 'em up, put 'em up.

January here in W Yorks has been probably the best ever..........I was worked up by 26/01 and even got a bit ahead of myself so when this lot hit it hasn't impacted much.......I do 5/6 weekly so am not far behind even after last week mainly off and Monday missed for a funeral.....funeral was at 10.30 and was going to go out in the afternoon but the do afterwards was too tempting and ended up on the sauce at 11.45.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.
