I think thats probably the right decision.

Trad window cleaner just went past here. There's stupid. And there's desperate. There's also stupid and desperate.

Really picking up here on the North western side of Bristol. I think even the most well trained customers will be concerned about the welfare of their window cleaners today.

Not a good look doing outside work in this wind. I'd never send a worker out with met office warning advice to stay at home.

Utterly irresponsible even if it isn't as bad as forecast.
I think people always look to reinforce their opinion. We're amber here btw according to the Met Office. Everyone has been told to stop if conditions are unsafe. If they say stop, we stop. I can hear the wind crossing the chimney, but otherwise it's perfectly fine. AT THE MOMENT.

I get your frustration, it was sunny and still here about half an hour ago, perfectly workable but nevertheless, yours and my customer base have all heard the warnings about "Eunice" expected to be the worst storm for 30 years. You cant unhear that, its ingrained now in peoples mind and from a pr stance you wont be doing your business any favours  at all. I had to laugh this morning at bbc breakfast reporter stationed near the seafront in Ilfacombe. He described the sea as a "bubbling couldron" and the camera panned over to a pretty calm seafront, ive seen bigger waves at centre parcs , but all the same ,we're all expecteing  the worse even if it turns out it has  been egged up a bit.

it's really easy to overthink things.

if its fine to work, its fine to work. if its not stop.

the weather is different in different parts of the country.

we've done 6 hrs worth of work so far this morning.

Agreed. We probably got 30-40% of the work done before quitting. It was comfortable too. But it's picked up now and it seems sensible to stop.

Problem is the work you have done will probably look worse than it was before you started in a couple of hours and customers won’t be happy paying for the clean , to me when the forecast is for the  worst weather conditions in  years  it’s common sense to take a couple of days off , the bad PR from all this could do your business a lot of harm . It just makes you look that you don’t  care  about staff safety of the finished results on the customers properties , you just are after their money and that’s it , if it was my place that you turned up at in this type of weather I would tell you ware to go and would cancel the service and not  be paying the bill .

Not as bad in West Dorset as they said it would be.

I've seen worse, even fairly recently - it's just longer sustained today.

1987 however...

We work in all weathers within reason as well but this weather isn’t reasonable to work in or it certainly isn’t down hear . All council services have been cancelled as well including all out patient appointments in all the hospitals , Ime guessing conditions will varie   around the country , but I think working in the middle of a storm that’s the worst for  years and highly publicised makes you look irresponsible and desperate , but if conditions are fine ware you are then obviously carry on .

Desperate for money that’s what it is although you’ll be told we provide a regular service no matter what the weather, real reason is staff and bills to pay if you have to stress about getting
Money in with weather like this or when it’s heavy rain I think people need to either get better paying work so a couple of days down time a month doesn’t effect them.
Look at it how you like 99% of customers think “eh”
when you turn up in high winds or pouring rain.

No wind up here but about 6 inches of snow in two hours. Turns out electric vans are shit in the snow.

Tbh I think that is worse because if it’s not followed by rain it’ll stick around up there as the weather next week is cold and bright.

Dunno. Have to see. Im dubious to be honest, but there's nothing can be done about it is there. Might have a wait over in Heathrow....

Flight is 17:00 so past the worse but that probably means nothing.
