personally speaking I wouldn't let the guys go out in anything over 40 mph - not a safety issue but defo a quality issue - at 60+ MPH I wouldn't entertain it on H&S

a supposed loss of 3k is nothing in terms of caring for people - if one gets killed of badly injured by a falling tree on route to work how would you feel?

TBH - if you can not afford them to not work for a single day I think you had better revisit your business model

just sayin

I knew a bloke who owned a wood yard. He was killed on the way to work. A falling tree fell on his car.  :'(
We look at them, they look through them.

Yeah I take it you took you’re vehicle to be cleaned or did they turn up at your house and clean it.
Came to my house. The point is it won’t stay clean. Nothing does. If it did we wouldn’t need cleaners.

If it’s safe, we’ll work. If it isn’t, we won’t. We’ll make that decision when we see what it’s like here.

On business models,I  think I remember correctly you don’t work in the rain?

If it’s safe, we will work. My suspicion is it won’t be, but I will decide when it’s upon us. The forecast has worsened over the day with forecasted winds up from 40-60. I remember the ironic memes on Facebook of a deckchair blown over on predicted storms so my recent experience is they haven’t been as fierce as forecast. I’d prefer to just wait and see. That seems the sensible thing to do.

Nothing wrong with waiting and seeing and in respect of forecasts I am firmly in the camp that it's usually over egged - however early indications are ( right over here in Norfolk ) that it's very windy already.

No we don't work in rain - that's anything more than a drizzle - generally customers don't like it, and I don't like it - if effects about 2 days a year

What I will say is your posts come across that it's more important to get the money than worry about staff maybe that's just something to bear in mind

It's just the shorthand of a one fingered typist.

I've just walked the dogs. I live on the exposed edge of Newbury. At the moment I'd have no hesitation working. We'll monitor it and call it off if it worsens, but at present, very mild.

Its starting to get a bit windy here,  I am in the red zone so expect it to get a lot worse.
schools closed , some shops closed , and no bin collection.
I would be looked upon as a right tit if I went to work.

The Mrs said that, but still amber on the Met Office for Newbury.  Chaps are out. It looks like it gets worse at about 10. We'll just watch and see. If it does, we'll call them in. At the moment it's perfectly workable and I've checked with two other locals this morning & both working.

I'm monitoring it. We'll stop if it gets heavy, but at the moment it's nothing I wouldn't work in. The guys have all been told to carry on, but to update the office if it starts to feel unsafe and we'll roll the work over to next week.

I’m about 30 miles from Newbury. I wouldn’t send a dog out in this.

Really picking up here on the North western side of Bristol. I think even the most well trained customers will be concerned about the welfare of their window cleaners today.

Not a good look doing outside work in this wind. I'd never send a worker out with met office warning advice to stay at home.

Utterly irresponsible even if it isn't as bad as forecast.

I walked my two dogs in it at 7am this morning. It was fine. I think we just need to man up.

I think people always look to reinforce their opinion. We're amber here btw according to the Met Office. Everyone has been told to stop if conditions are unsafe. If they say stop, we stop. I can hear the wind crossing the chimney, but otherwise it's perfectly fine. AT THE MOMENT.
