Left my mk3 in my garage the other day, as i’d been to the tip and took a few bits out.

Went to work and completely forgot to put it back in the van, thankfully had an old series 2 extreme in the van, with a couple of mk3 sections.

I may be the only one, but it made me realise how much I miss the series 2 for lower work.

It’s so smooth, grit is never a problem. It felt perfect.

I wish Alex would bring it back as an option, I love the metal bands, they never wear, so you never have to adjust the clamps. The sections slide in all weathers, like a beut. No grit build up.

I appreciate the mk3 is more rigid at 25ft plus, but for lower work, I’d take the series 2 all day everyday.

I also noticed when I first got a mk3 how much quicker it wears out.

Alex, if you have any old series 2 lying around, I’ll have them!!

I totally agree . The metal bands were excellent . Maybe the poles lasted too long and didn’t need replacing often enough !

I snapped 2 sections of the old banded sections..just as brittle as the other xtremes....

I just wish the xline nano pole had gardiner clamps as it would then be the perfect pole...its slightly heavier than an xtreme and more rigid but still nowhere near as heavy as an SLX....I just think the lightness of the xtreme compromises the durability a bit too much...

I will take the lightness over the durability and the same goes for the extreme brushes they don’t last as long but they are so light,I’ve not had a problem with sections snapping only maybe a couple of times over years and years on all versions of the extremes.
If you keep extending them to the red bands they will weaken far quicker I’ll never go down to the red bands unless I need the full length of the pole at that time,I see some people fully extending one section say the top section to do a ground floor windows when they could half extend sections 1 and 2 to reach doing this definitely prolongs the life of the pole.

I’ve taken an old mark 3 to an engineering type customer with a view to him fitting shims where the metal bands were on the mark 2.
If it works, I’ll say nowt!

Might be too fat for the clamps or too fat for the next section. Pretty sure Mk3 and MK2 aren’t interchangeable? Have you tried measuring the diameters?
I too thought the metal bands were brilliant except….. the pole will still wear from the inside and snap eventually, strangely always just below the strongest part.

They are interchangeable up to a certain height…

They defo wear less quickly, and were just a joy to use, I loved how smooth the extension was for lack of grit. The mk3 feels like a slx but lighter. The mk2 felt like another league. It was the best. I hope Alex thinks about adding metal bands again as an option.
