Anyone offer 48 hour rain guarantee?
« on: February 15, 2022, 11:17:31 am »
I've seen this on a few local wc vans so wondered if anyone on here offers it and if so what is your experience?

When i switched from trad to wfp, i would tell the customer that the windiws would virtually stay clean regardless if it rains the day they are cleaned.

For new customers, I had a welcome pack and within that was an a5 leaflet which in part said about working in the rain and referred them to my website for further info if they so wished.
(It also mentioned another controversy, locked gates being open via a text night before and if not, 75% will be charged even if just front windows get cleaned 😏)

When I switched I included a 24 hour reclean (of offending windows).

Never got called back.

I do, but nobody takes any notice of it. Hardly ever been called back.

Rain water is not what makes windows dirt, if anything it helps clean them. TDS reading of our rain water in the UK is usually under 10PPM. Its air, road and tree pollutants that make windows dirty.

So you could educate your customers on this. Ive no idea why customers say don't clean my windows when its raining as it makes no sense.

Exactly - more issues from high winds than rain

Windows will take a rain water drenching a couple of times after that they start to leave dirt on them from my experience,I’d like to see people offer a rain guarantee on the coast you can clean them in the morning and they have a covering of salt in the evening.

If it’s windy and raining there is more chance of the rain picking up dust as it goes through the atmosphere. I’ve never known my west facing front windows to be clean after such conditions.

I said I have never been called back but now I remember one. I have a few properties within a few hundred yards of the Severn Estuary when it is at high tide. This house had some west facing windows and there were high winds the night after I had cleaned.

The windows were covered in salt. But only on the side facing the channel. The prevailing weather came up the channel from the west.

It's a game of three halves!

If you get wind and rain blowing off the sea you do get salt deposits on the windows, snow storms are even worse as the snow must hold more salt. I used to do an area, big detached houses, right on the Firth of Forth, if the wind came in the wrong direction the windows were so bad you could barely see through them…..I no longer do that area😆

No neither have I tbh it has to be heavy rain with next to no wind for them to remain clean,at the end of the day the majority of people don’t want their windows cleaned in terrible inclement weather conditions and if you plan and have the right work you shouldn’t  need to be cleaning in it.
The people that promote this are people that need to get the money in from having staff and overheads,I could do a couple of days of planned work if I knew the weather was awful for the following week and still keep the wolf from the door, anyone doing this job for long enough should be able to do the same as should you clean windows in stair rod rain not imo, should you lay bricks below 3-4 degrees no but people do it why because they need to earn.

I reckon it would be a very low percentage of customers that would want you turning up in bad weather,we’ve all got places we can go and get away with cleaning certain jobs but not on a regular basis regardless of where you live in the country.
I bet Tradman is struggling this week up near Aberdeen lol terrible weather up there last-this and next week.

But that is not rain it’s the wind whipping up water off the sea - small point and maybe splitting hairs but it’s different from just rain

What do you do if its calm and dry during daylight hours and a storm is forecast overnight that night?(like the present forecast?)

Surely you don't take the day off?I just crack on as usual
price higher/work harder!

Sun’s out today! Car windscreen is covered in filthy rain spots from last night’s 50mph storm.
I’m taking the day off! Can’t see much point in taking the pee when tomorrow’s storm is forecast at 80mph and everyone knows it’s coming.
I’m not that desperate I can’t take time off when I want.

I'm doing the same :)

Plenty of dirty windows to clean next week and the weather's looking better.
