Never done this before but need to this weekend...so my new pump has arrived(water genie 5l).its at girlfriends house so not seen it yet....

But I assume it comes with 4 wires(2 for controller and 2 for battery)do these normally come with bullet connectors?I'm hoping I just need to disconnect the old pump wiring and swap like for like...plumb in the 2 inlets at the bottom of pump and away I go....

Normally a pump will just have 2 wires : +ve and -ve. You can wire it directly to battery (ideally with a fuse) to test if you want or in an emergency if your controller fails! Some pumps have an extra 2 wires that that connect to the pressure switch but they are normally connected to the 2 wires already. Pump probably wont have bullet connectors on. Have a look on Amazon for bullets and a ratchet crimp tool. When swapping the pumps do 1 wire at a time like for like if possible. That way it's easier to get it correct - don't get the polarity round the wrong way as you could damage controller. If it's a Spring manufacturered controller they have manuals on line so you can see which wire out of controller is to 12v on pump and which is the -ve on the pump.

Yes but you usually have to crimp the connectors to the wiring.
I assume this is because they dont know how much wiring you’ll need so it gives you the option to shorten/extend it.

Just remove the old pump and connect the new one ul the same way it’s not rocket science. Only 2 wires 😂😂😂😂 you will need new built connecters any motor factors will sell them in a bluster lack fir a couple of quid ,just make sure you get the wires the right way round  as you don’t want to damage the pump or controller

Pumps normally arrive without any bullet connectors, just bare black & red.  Connect these pump wires, black to controller blue, red to controller brown, then the controller black & red to battery.  You can use a chock block electrical connector if you dont have bullet connectors, 15amp will do £0.75p, just insulation tape up.  https://www.toolstation.com/connector-strip/p85099           

You will probably need a little boiling hot water from a kettle to soften up the hose if you need to cut or pull it off the old pump barbs, these become rock hard in the cold. IF? they are jubilee clipped onto the barbs, you might want to have a couple spare in case they are knackered or you strip them (13-20mm).       

If you look up spring controllers on the net you will probably find a diagram on their website if you get stuck.

I'll probably cut the hose rather than try to pull it off the barbs on the old pump if i struggle to get them off....as I don't want to be putting hot water on electrical connections....its a bit messy in my cabinet!😄

There is only 2 wires on a pump one red one black  that you need to connect . I have fitted loads of pumps over the  years .

You don’t need to touch them just connect the pump up to the wires that you have taken the pump wires off from , it’s a two muinit job , if you want you can replace it into the main loom but usually there is connectors near the pump .

There is only one black wire and one red wire on a pump see pictures below , this is an aqua tech pump which is what you have they are all wired the same , I have 12 pumps and they are all wired the same way

I'm hoping it is a simple job.....I think the hardest part will be draining my tank then hoovering out most of the resin in the bottom of my tank before flushing it through before fitting the new pump...

What an absolute ball ache...I won't make this mistake again...

My old pump is getting me through this week,I have it on 99 but the flow is like having it on 30-35 and it doesn't shut off when I close my tap on the pole,it just runs and runs so it must be resin in the diaphragm...

I would fit a tap from the tank outlet before the pump and also fit a strainer then any removal of the pump can be done with a full tank if needed and no dirt can get into the pump problem solved permanently.

So is it only these black and red wires from pump that need to be connected up in the wiring loom?there's so many wires I'm getting confused!
