Spring Lumi Level?

This is for the Spring Guy

The Lumi Level, any plans to use it for other applications with a cheaper, simpler level indicator?

Thanks Ian. There is a market for something reliable and not hideously expensive. Particularly in the marine industry re. Water tanks, waste tanks and fuel tanks.

You would be better off with a clear tube down the side of the tank like I have it’s easy enough to work out how much water you have left,I watched the video on that it’s not accurate enough you have to allow water at the bottom and the top of the tank what ever it reads out from what i could see it’s no where near accurate.

I don’t know how many litres it takes to clean a job but I can’t see how this is any better than a tube with a fluorescent ball in it,it just seems like a gimmick that is something else electric to go wrong down the line.

Thanks for the comments. We are going to produce a live video with the level sensor in a Van along with the User installation guide that is available.
There are a number of applications where a level sensor can be useful some of which have been mentioned. There are a lot of tanks which are not transparent on the market where it can be harder to see the water level.

The sensor is measuring a distance using a laser. This makes it very quick to respond to changes and accurate. In testing we draw a litre of water into a jug to check the accuracy.

To give an accurate reading The sensor needs to know
1. The minimum water level - measured from the top of the tank to the minimum level which would be just above the tank outlet
2. The maximum water level    - measured from the top of the tank to the Max fill line
3. Capacity of the tank in litres EG 500ltr

The sensor will work with tanks between 100 litres and 2000 litres .

It will need a clear line of sight from the top of the tank to the bottom and should not be placed above a baffle.  As with any device for measuring water level the most accurate reading will be when the van is stationary and water not sploshing about

Cheers

My tank is solid blue with a transparent tube down the side so I can see how much water I have left, you can work out how much water you’re tank can carry by doing a quick calculation on the width and height of the tank once you have that figure say your tank is 500ltrs,if you were to measure the height and then divide that in to 5 each line you make is 100lts  you don’t need a digital controller to do this.
I’m not knocking what you’ve done but you can do the same with a tape measure-calculator and pen.

It’s even quicker if the tank you have is a definite 500ltrs divide the height in to 5 mark 4  lines each gap between the lines is 100ltrs,no wires or battery needed for that just as I said a measure and pen.

same can be said for those that use immersion heater when looking at a diesel heater - bit of a gimmick really!

Thanks Ian, that’s kind of answered one of my questions. Sounds like it probably won’t work with the application I had in mind. (Black water tank ie. sewage).

It would depend on the sewage and if it was in liquid form or contained any solids.
