Growing the business as we move into the Winter
« on: September 14, 2021, 03:35:55 pm »
I need to grow the business a bit more now I have an employee.

Best time to grow, spring and summer, are now behind us.

How have people got on with growing during the autumn and winter?

Be interested in anyones experience of canvassing in winter specifically but other ways such as advertising also.

Cheers

Wasting your time with leaflets in the winter. The return is a fraction of the return in the summer. I’ve no experience of canvassing in the winter. Or summer actually, but it must be harder.

I started in November 23 years ago and by the following March  had 450 customers so it can be done  recommendations, walk ups , and knocking doors ware you already work should give a steady stream of new customers, sign written van also helps as nosy neighbors will see it and take your number

Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

I found a lot wanted windows cleaned for Christmas as they had family coming so picked up a lot of regular customers close to the holiday s , I did stress that it was a regular service I was offering not just a Christmas clean and most were fine  and still doing most of them over 20 years later

I have always found the better quality customers are gained from September through to November.

When I canvass that’s when I always get more.

Last September I leafleted and got some very good results too.

I’m also very specific with how we work, GoCardless etc so the customers who sign up tend to be good.

Leaflets are also good for bigger one-offs whilst growing - gutters, fascias soffits etc
