easy clean

never thought i'd see the day!!!
« on: July 17, 2006, 10:21:54 pm »
been out tonight canvassing in a road that i'm cleaning on wed, had quite a few people interested until they asked me how i clean the windows. my replie was wfp, explaining the advantages of the system and the rest of it, (sales pitch). anyway thats when their interest suddenly went, after asking why they said that there window cleaner changed over to that about 4 or 5 months ago and that the results were terrible!!!! i couldn't believe and done my best to justify the system. after a brief conversation it was left with them all that if they're still not happy then i'd be more than happy to add them to my round.

surely if he's been doing for 4 or 5 months then he should've got the hang of it by now, i mean i've only been doing it for that period of time and i people reccomending me left, right and centre. not one to blow my own trumpet but even when i've been behind and a day late, they're on the phone making sure i'm coming back!

i mean it's not excactly hard to wfp, i personally thought it was idiot proof!!!!
has anybody else came across this?

I have a customer who has been with me for 4 months now.  She was initially very reluctant to give me the go ahead to clean as she was very nervous about WFP.  Her friend's WC used WFP and left "white marks" on the windows.

In the end I said, "Let me clean for you once and if you’re not happy, don't pay me!"

The rest as they say is history.  She's very happy and her cheque always arrives within 3/4 days of the clean.

I don't recommend you do this with every person who is nervous of WFP otherwise you may get people taking you for a ride.

But it worked for me on this occasion.

Show them what you can do on Wednesday. ;)

It makes me wonder if he did the top frames initially.  Might be better to treat these jobs as first cleans just in case.

shiner i dont always do the top frame on every 1st clean, just in case they cancel next month. after a couple of cleans they ask me if i can do the frames and then i charge them more, maybe it's not the right way but im getting perfect results 1st time and the customers are very happy.

maybe the guy is not using 100% pure water, prob see me working and thought cor that's a piece of p155, money for old rope and is just using tap water. wouldn't surprise me there's alot of cowboys about!!!! ;D ;D ;D

That cancelling after first clean can be annoying can't it?  Although I couldn't really charge existing customers more for the first clean with WFP, I certainly charge more for new customers.  This compensates if they cancel - perhaps not the full amount but it helps.

I have come across this where I have been out canvassing for work and some have said that WFP does not do a good job!

I say all are work its done to a good standard, and if you are not happy with the job, then we will come back and do the window or windows again and this works every time ;)

Unless potential new customers ask, which one or two are now doing; don't even mention WFP to them.  Obviously it's a bit difficult not to if they nab you while working with it.

I just turn up and clean it; explain how it works either during or after the clean; and they can see the results for themselves once the windows dry.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say.

shiner are you trad or wfp? i've only ever been wfp and only been doing it for 4 months now, am a mechanic by trade but got fed up with it!
I've been using WFP since last November and I did trad before that from 1991.  I still use trad on some ground floor windows though and on a few bungalows.

Im the same as tosh i don't mention WFP i used to but then your there for ages axplaining how it all works.

I just turn up and clean them but i think most know when i quote them that i use WFP as Ladderless window cleaning is plastered in huge lettering over my van.

I have had a few after watching me saying how are you going to dry it.
They look a bit confused when i say im not im leaving them wet.

But when im finished i say they will dry clear any problem which is very unlikely give me a ring.

I had a new one last week say im happy with the clean but the upstairs one has all brush marks on them.
I looked up and there sparkling.
I said there perfect.
She said come upstairs i will show you and it looked like from inside big brush marks until i wiped my finger on the inside and i came up clean.
I said look its on the insides.
She couldn't apologise enough and said she must be a right dirty cow.

I had a couple say the same thing a while ago, and as I didnt have a full days work, I said i'd do the windows and if they werent happy they didnt have to pay. well I done 'em, and I got payed. It turned out that the other w/cers spent a whole 5 mins trying to do a first clean on a 3 story and expected it to be perfect
