New resin vessel
« on: August 13, 2021, 07:26:40 pm »
Hi all,
My new resin vessel has arrived.
11 litre to replace a 10’’ one.
The in and out ports have male 1/2 inch connectors on them.
My RO has the John Guest type thin hose and fittings.
What do guys do to reduce  so that I can connect my existing system hose?
Thanks

Get a pair of JG adapters. 1/2" bsp to whatever the push fit size JG hose is.
It's a game of three halves!

Are you sure it 1/2? All my 11ltr vessels have always been 3/4".

It could well be that they have reducers fitted already.

Hi, just checked.
The male fittings on the vessel take the standard female hose lock connector.
Garden hose size hose lock, thought it was half inch?
Might have to use two each side with a short hose in between, then copy the pole hose fitting with the John guest tubing.
If that makes sense!
Can’t find a suitable John guest fitting.
Thanks

They are 3/4" then. You can buy john guest 3/4bsp to 3/8 pipe but as far as I'm aware only 3/4" 'tap' connectors for other pipe sizes. As per my other thread, it's not clear if tap connectors work with flat ended bsp adaptors like the ones fitted to DI vessels.

These are the fittings for 3/4 bsp to 3/8 push fit. These are 'flat end' with a flat rubber washer inside, not tap connectors that have a thin rubber o-ring. I 'suspect' your RO tubing may be 3/8".

https://coffeehit.co.uk/products/john-guest-female-adaptor-3-8-pf-x-3-4-f-bsp-flat-face-seal?variant=17964563464257&fo_c=1166&fo_k=49b901809c9fe085e5de2b520c7b0119&fo_s=gplauk&gclid=CjwKCAjw092IBhAwEiwAxR1lRkOCIBkMEgZ6gVtj7QVoVLbgo3awnbFkZSuPDlXvkTY3FSomSWtE3xoC0UAQAvD_BwE

What needs to be determined is whether you can insert a flat washer into a tap connector to adapt it for flat end use. If you can then this widens the choice of fittings and pipe sizes.

Thanks very much.
Surely loads of you must use RO’s using John Guest tubing with the larger resin vessels?
Been away so have to fight a way into my garage.
Changing filters, membranes etc as well.

You can get 3/4"BSP to JG 1/2" too. I did for a water meter on the input side of my R/O.

Used bits I had around with hose clamps.
Each side has  a hozelock female to the male on the vessel, short hose to another hozelock , push fitting into the hozelock with orange flexi hose, smaller hose fits into this hose secured with a Terry clamp.
Bit of a jumble up but works fine.
I did message Doug at Daqua asking which fittings he recommends so may change it later.
All good fun!
