Not enough work!
« on: July 30, 2021, 01:23:25 am »
Hey everyone,  I’m into my second year of p/w now, and business is no better than last year! (I did 30 jobs). I advertise in our local trader magazine, have magnetic signs on my van and put leaflets out intermittently.  Should I start a FB page or a website or both.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I would get a website no matter  how busy you are, a Facebook business  page is easy to set up so you might as well do one. Although I’m not a big lover of Facebook some people get work from it.

I would look where your existing work is coming from  and do more of that.

‘Intermittent’ leafleting doesn’t work…… ‘consistent’ leafleting does ;)

agree....

intermittent is a waste of time you may as well no bother - leaflet and canvass - if your cleaning then you need to be delivering leaflets or knocking doors - get out there to get the work, it won't come looking for you

Do we agree a website is important Mike?

I think a website is an inexpensive addition to any marketing plan,  lots of people want more information on who you are and what you do than a leaflet or magazine advert can give. A website is a good information portal for those people who want more info.

And some people won’t use you unless they have seen your website,  I always look at a website before calling a service provider (tradesmen etc) given the choice I will use the company who has a website over a company who hasn’t

Hi Matt,
Yes just pw at the mo’, not really looking for full time, having said that, I could do with a few more jobs!
I’ve looked into wc, but never done any, apart from squeegeeing down after a pw job!

I was going to suggest jumping on with some one part time and keeping some hours for yourself, I have a guy who works 3 days a week for me and he does some stuff for himself on the other days, maybe something similar might work for u until things pick up.

Sounds like a good idea, although I don’t know of any other outfits that are  looking for a bit of extra help in this area: maybe this message might be seen by someone!

I was just going to offer u a part time job doing a bit of jet washing here and there on some sites while ur wasn’t busy  so would of needed ur contact number …..
I can’t see why you would be concerned about putting ur details up on here, after all it’s a bit of free advertising
