Soffit & facia pricing
« on: July 21, 2021, 07:02:18 am »
Hi thanks for reading,I'm based in West Sussex I price soffits and facias at £3 per metre,at that price I do get a fair few jobs, but when I tell some customers the price they almost fall on the floor.
Why do some customers assume that if there windows are £18 that the whole house soffits and facias will be the same.
Just wondered what your views are .

( not bothered I don't get all priced as to be honest I don't want to do any )

Are you kidding?

I wouldn’t go anywhere near a facias/soffit clean for less than £50 a side. Often it’s more like £150 for a standard 3 bed semi.

It’s hard work, can be fiddly, takes time so should be priced accordingly…

£3 per meter is unbelievably cheap, in fact I’ve never heard of someone charging so little.

yeh we had an old chap this week who wanted us to clean his fascias every time we did the windows and baulked at £20 extra for it on a 4 weekly clean  (they're very clean).

nobody really has a clue what you should pay for a fascia cleaning.

we charge a £130 min for fascia soffit cleaning and go up from there. some customers are surprised, some aren't, some would happily pay more.

they're a bugger of a job to do and 1 cant do more than 3 or 4 a day without killing myself..

I quoted a job £120 completed in just under two hours which I was happy with,I find it hard on my body now as approaching 60

good going that!

to be honest, our price for the fascias is a bit too cheap IMHO.

i tie it in with my gutter cleaning and so offer them quotes for 3 versions of the job, good, better, and best so we can upsell fascia cleaning with the gutter jobs. it means our average price on gutter cleaning is rather decent, but fascias only (which are are for us) work out underpriced for us

I am not taking any on for the foreseeable  future. I hate doing them , and I have more than enough window cleaning.
I find them to be a ball ache! I am 50 in a couple of months , and just find it too much hastle
The only add on I am doing at the moment is softwashing of render.
easy, good money , and theraputic.

yes Colin - I would up the price - these are more bespoke work - yearly maybe but more like bi-annual - try to aim for more p/h to compensate for the effort and the effect it has on your day.

As someone said, some people have absolutely no Idea what's involved. Lost a long standing custy because she genuinely thought I should do her conny roof as a favour, had another mad woman 1st try to make out the facias was included in the price for doing the windows then offer me a whole fiver extra if I did them, this was a large 4 /5 bed detached. It doesn't help that I know of a local windy who charges as low as £40 for 3 bed detached facia cleans.(were always judged against the cheapest never the dearest) I'm always rather pleased when someone passes on any quote I give  for them, it's a job I only do in the rain so it doesn't interfere with the bread and butter of window cleaning and something I'm looking forward to dropping altogether the nearer retirement I get, but still good additional wet day money at the mo so will persevere with it.

£6 a metre in and out for me.

Barge boards £15 each end.

Bungalows are cheaper. They’re far more enjoyable and easier to do.

When you price so much per meter it can work out a lot of money for how easy it can be though,i priced a job like this per meter and it was 100s and 100s tbh once you get going on these jobs you can smash through them and still earn great money.
I would price 3-5 a meter and see what that works out at it’s not long before you’re into a lot of money for little work especially on plastics,10 meters of plastic fascia board for 30 notes with hot water takes literally a few minutes you need to be sensible and certainly if it’s already a good paying customer on windows alone.

And that’s about right, some of you are seriously cheap.

Is that with or Without VAT?

I rarely price by Meter - I look at the job and time according to time and style of s/f/g

this is what I have  started to understand now that im getting older.
It knackers me  out , so for it to be viable it has to be at least double my wc rate ,
where I live this just wont happen .
so I have started giving them a number of someone who focuses more on exterior cleaning.

I don’t do any for less than £120, it just isn’t worth it. Even at that price I’ve always got 6-10 agreed and ready to do, I find I just can’t be arsed getting round to doing them.
