Hi all, Just received a new extreme pole and forgot how nice they feel new. Has any one applied anything to there new pole in the past ( except PTFE spray ) to retain the pole the finish for longer and did it work ??

Johnny, is the extreme 18' alot more rigid than the slx?, is it quite noticable?

My extreme 22 is a cracking pole' i dont use any sprays on it' in 2 years i normally replace 1 and 2 sections then replace pole .when they snap again i  will just replace sections from now on i think see how i get on' i also use a 18 for lower level work as there more hard wearing compared to extremes 'made a mistake getting a phathom pole next time will be slx

You wont notice it on an 18 but on a 22 and above you will notice it more rigid and also lighter,  a lightweight brush such as the extreme makes all the difference on them and in my opinion is a must, using heavy brushes also shortens their lifespan.

Once youve had an extreme you will find it difficult to go back to an slx. Yes they dont last as long but makes the day a lot easier.

My extreme 22 is over 3 years old now. I always use supreme brushes which are classed as heavier, It’s got some spinning sections but I just clamp it an inch from the top.

Love it.

I’ve realised that key to keeping them going is to not get grit inside the pole. Every time I move around to the rear or front of the property I coil up the pole hose with a cloth in my hand to clean it at the same time.

This way, I’m never dragging the hose through dirt, then extending that up inside the pole.

Extremes all the way, they are the best pole out there  in my opinion.

Other pole makers are way behind on the weight comparison the Ova as a pole is good quality not the clamps though,the base section on the Ova is still to heavy imo can’t be compared to the extreme at the moment I have the 22 in both poles the Ova being Hi Modulas version also.

yes   x treem  not as hard wearing .      shutting windows can weaken after a long time

Actually I went back to an slx from an extreme but ended up going back to an extreme again

i also went back to an slx 25 for a while after snapping another section of an xtreme but went back to them for the sheer ease of use in my day to day work...i have lots of awkward windows to clean with a 25ft pole (sometimes fully extended horizontally or at an angle)the xtreme makes my working day much easier

xline  certainly arn't far behind at all, their 18 ft nano is just 30g heavier than the 18ft extreme and much cheaper especially if bought during their black friday sale with 15% off. Great pole to work with, rigidity is brilliant, had mine for 8 months now and its had some knocks and survived. My only concern is how long the clamps will last, not too much room for adjustment left on the 1st section, time will tell.

In real world use they are worlds apart blindfolded I would know immediately if it was a pole of the same height.

I can honestly say I’ve never had a problem with the Gardiner clamps since they released the first pole with the round adjuster on the side of the clamp,since these were changed I’ve never had a bit of trouble.
Most of these poles are the same just rebadged excluding the Ova although the carbon quality might be the same.

I had a xline carbon and it wore out very quick it was ridged and strong but not much adjustment in the clamps i sold it for £100 to a cheep skate window cleaner looking for a pole it was on its last legs  🤣

I run an Xtreme 20 as my everyday pole. This is basically the top four sections of an Xtreme 25. (The extra 2ft over the 18ft pole is well worth it and it is not nearly as heavy as the five section 22)

I bought it in January 2017 and have had an email exchange with Alex about it. He suggested in 2019 (when I was beginning to see wear taking place) that I just replace the top three sections (being as I am a cheapskate but WANT/MUST have the lightest option)  which I did.

I have just (literally today) received another top three sections plus a new clamp assembly for the fourth section. The fourth section obviously only receives wear on the inside and is good to continue.

I also clean and lacquer the top three sections at about six monthly/nine monthly intervals.

(The old top three sections I shall keep to replace breakages on my 9 year old "Extreme 47")
