Getting a new Employee
« on: July 05, 2021, 03:04:47 pm »
So i have been delaying it for a while but i now need a new Employee to replace one of my current ones.

I put out the job advertisement on Indeed last week i expected to get a good response but so far had 7 people apply and nearly all of the applicants are not qualified or what i am looking for.  Last time i put out a job application a few years ago i had between 50-100 people apply.  Which gives alot of choice when narrowing down for job applications and i had a way better response.

Has anyone else had a bad response from putting out job advertisements lately?

Im seriously considering putting the job advertisement out on facebook just to try and get more of a response.

Where are you guys advertising your jobs?

our last advert had zero response for a week - we are coastal so there's a lot of seasonal work, in the end we boosted the job advert on indeed and immediately got 12 pretty decent cv's in

Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

we get non qualified applicants - people that cant drive

Driving licience is essential

or under the age of 18 - impossible to insure

Oh that is interesting so it isn't just me.  We are coastal too and theres lots of jobs round here maybe that does have an effect.

I have boosted the job so far spent around £15 i think.  Just want some more applicants.  Ill be patient for now.

Yes exactly this.  For me i don't want anybody under the age of 24 purely for insurance purposes.  Im a small company and can't afford expensive insurance.  Been there done that, not doing it again.

A friend of mine has just been made redundant (aerospace industry) and has been offered 4 different jobs already, it seems to be an employees market at the moment.

I have had job adverts out for last 12 weeks, i stipulate u must have a driving license and window cleaning experience but that doesn’t stop the resident benefit claimers just applying for the job even tho they know they won’t get it …. I put on the bottom of advert that without the license and experience we won’t even entertain replying but it don’t put them off ….
It’s hit and miss with looking for staff but we have to go through the rigmarole
