SCRATCHES ON SILLS
« on: July 05, 2021, 01:38:40 pm »
UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE NEED TO ANGLE BRUSH CORRECTLY ON UPPER SILLS TO STOP BRUSH HOLDER SCRTACHING THE SILLS WITH BLACK LINES, BUT NEVER HAD A COMPLAINT.  lAST WEEK CUSTOMER SAID THAT ONE OF MY LADS THAT CLEANED THE WINDOWS LEFT SCRATCHES ALL OVER THE LOWER SILLS.  CAN NOT CHECK AT THE MOMENT AS IN ISOLATION BUT BETTER TO BE PREPARED.  ANYONE EXPERIENCED SCRATCHED SILLS AND IF SO ANY REMEDIES TO GET THE SCRATCHES OFF.   WHITE PVC.  THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Had this with my employee. He was using the brush sideways on awkward to reach ground windows & using the sill to guide the stock of the brush along the lower part of the window frame, just to take the weight of the pole. Was lazy cleaning imo.

It's probably shiny dark lines along the sill. Not scratches. Upvc cleaner gets it off.

AND STOP SHOUTING! ;D

Very easily done. If we got up a ladder to every property we clean I bet there would be scratches on a few . Like others have said cif, pink stuff or astonish come up like new

Yep, it’s maybe not a bad thing that we can’t see the upper sills, there is no way they get a proper clean, especially if you use an extreme brush.

Happened to me ages ago. Didn't fancy getting the ladders out again to clean them off, so ever since I fit these bumpers.
The edges of those sill brushes are really sharp.

So buy a really lightweight brush & then add some weight 🤔

I put the angle adapter at the correct angle each time or step back more. Then the bristles land square on the glass or point down slightly.

Triple x wire wool on wet sill will get scratches off easily. But are you 100% sure it's you/your lad doing it? One of my customers was adamant I was doing the same on her brand new windows which I found hard to believe as wasn't happening on anyone else's. I cleaned the scratches off for her and left. Next time I came, to my relief, the scratches were back before I'd even started and luckily she was in so  had no hiding place and had to admit it wasn't me. Upon further questioning, she was leaning out of the window with a hand brush sweeping the sills down which was leaving black lines.
