split relay?
« on: June 13, 2021, 01:32:50 pm »
Hi guys, after advice from electrical experts, i have a split relay on the van and whilst driving yesterday the van juddered intermittently and the stop and battery lights were on the dash also intermittently, when i stopped i noticed that i had forgotten to turn my pump controller off, could this have caused the juddering ?, ps there are no fault codes showing...thanks

I doubt it - the charge is one way to the leisure battery regardless whether or not the pump is running

Age/make of van - type of split charge relay info is always helpful

Sounds more like an alternator issue - maybe it's starting to fail due to age weather conditions

If you’ve got ‘stop/start’ then I assume you’re Euro 6 so you’ll need a battery to battery charger rather than the old SCR.

Both though, usually have failsafes in them to make them “one way” and also only usually kick in when the vans battery has a certain amount of charge (ie they give priority to the van to make sure you can switch it on!)

I would be speaking to mechanic or an auto electrician, the van juddering whilst already started and moving sounds like a problem with the van, not the pump being on.
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?
