The Collective!
« on: July 16, 2006, 10:30:50 pm »
You do realise that, even though he seems like the minority voice on here...
Squeaky is in fact the majority voice.  More like The Collective!

There are still way more window cleaners who go by the bucket than those who pole a window.
All his arguments are, of course solid, as we all know...
I know from 9/10 months experience wfp...compared to 19 years trad...
There is a trade off, whatever method you choose.
Wfp = quicker more money, higher more inaccessible jobs.
Trad = steady good money, just as clean , if not cleaner result.  When you're done, you're done.

Thankfully I use both methods, whatever works best.  I have 19 years experience trad experience, now adding 10 months wfp.  Both have their place.
Don't be fooled..wfp is no quick-fix!  Just be a good window cleaner. ;)

Nice post Pj - we're all in the same boat whether we use oars or sails. Depends on the conditions at sea, I guess!

This is why I use WFP... I'm in business to make money - The quicker the better!  ;)

Nice one Pj.
I didn't notice this thread.

Trad = steady good money, just as clean , if not cleaner result.  When you're done, you're done.
...and this why I use trad. Excellent results, and a simple job.

I don't think anyone has a problem with anyone working with ladders.  It's how 99.9% of us started; and unless you're a 'Justin Ruggles' (whose obviously a brighter than average bloke), I'd always advise that traditional methods would be the best way to learn the trade and build a good customer base.

But there's no doubt that WFP is faster in many situations.  In some, a minority, it can be a pain and it's easier to use ladders.  Most WFP users still use ladders when the situation warrants it.

All added up, I've probably at least a day's worth of ladder use per month.

But WFP is safer; no-one ever argues that point.

Good post Pj.

I agree, up untill the end of last year i was trad. I know i give Squeaky some stick but i hope he knows its only a bit of banter, as he hands it out as well. the guy is respected by me & has a lot to offer & i always read what he has to say.

I prefer a discreetly placed outboard motor myself!
It's a game of three halves!

I'm glad he posts here too.  While everyone's having a pop at him, they're leaving me alone  ;D
Seriously though, I respect the guy and like his brand of humour.

Well there you go then.
I rest my case.

So far this topic has been read by over 192, only 8 or 9 comments, and not one disagreement on what's been stated, despite all the long debates that I have read on here over the last year or so!
Lets have a bit more honesty!  So that the new guys don't rush in thinking they're going to solve all their problems and get rich by getting magic water and a magic wand!

Off to work now, hot hot hot.  33c  93f today =  Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh! 8)

For what it is worth, I am planning to start my self up at the start of the new month doing WFP for tops and Traditional for bottoms.

I do not imagine for one minute that I will have hundreds of customers to start with and as such will be able to take the time on each job to 'do it right'

I like the idea of WFP for safey reasons and also like traditional.....

But this is all just 'perceptions' at the moment as I am not a window cleaner yet, unless repeatadly doing my own house 10 times a day makes me one  :)

Thanks
Dave
