I know this question is how long is a piece of string but how much more expensive if at all is having to use an ro instead of di only. Looking to moving house and water there 220 ppm as oppossed to 85 ppm at my current abode. Currently at an estimate resin costs me £600 per year. Thanks

There is a resin calculator here: https://m1store.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/Resin_Calculator.htm  At a guess if you are spending £50 a month on resin then if you stick with resin only it will cost more like £130 a month!!! So over 12 months that's an extra £960. So looks like RO is the way to go but remember DI you get 100% of the water in as pure out with RO you will lose 50 - 60% as waste so water costs and sewerage charges will be a little more!!!

A good RO system will remove 98% of the TDS so 220ppm will be reduced to 5ppm so it’ll cost about £1 per 1000l in resin to polish it off.
To produce 1000l of pure will use 2000l from the tap, which will cost around £6 I think.
A combined prefilter costs £20 and will filter 37500l pre RO, to produce 18,750l of pure so around £1.10 per 1000l
So £7.10 per 1000l or £0.007 a litre.
