Looks good doesn’t it shame it doesn’t work like that it takes years upon years to get a load of work that’s worth keeping.

Plenty new start ups round here. At least 5 in my town . Really glad I’m established and not scratching round for work especially in this environment

Makes customers realise there’s dexterity with the pole when they hear newbies customers moaning.

I’m not sure how many of my customers look at us working and think what a great job that would be...

I don't think that's your biggest problem, you should consider what will happen when:

All the restrictions are lifted on holidays abroad.  When it's safe to travel abroad, easy to travel abroad and people feel comfortable doing so, without having to quarantine etc. Every customer you contact will be on holiday and your round will look like a beautifully made 5,000 piece jigsaw puzzle, thrown out a top floor window!
"Thank you for calling: if you have a 1st floor flat, mid terraced house, lots of dogs, no parking, no side access, or no sense of humour, please press hold!
For all other enquiries, please press1"

i always see new start ups every year since i started back in 1993,some parts of my round get leafleted/canvassed 5 or 6 times a year......very few stick at it and make a proper good little business out of it because its so hard to earn enough in the first few years of trading.....
price higher/work harder!

Agree with Daz - many of those who actually start up fail - we  tend (us window cleaners ) to underestimate how much effort we have put into the biz physically not to mention the experience and customer base we have

Not many can last out on a couple of hundred per week when starting out and then six months down the line they look at the effort against the reward and think blow this I'll stack shelves at tesco  instead

Darran
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

I see more and more cleaners every year. I think eventually it will become sewn up by bigger companys but for the forseable future theres still plenty of work out there. I dump/lose customers every month so they must end up somewhere.

The answer lies in your opening line - new starters take on the dross we've weeded out. And they are welcome to them! We've mostly all been there: the customers who pay late, who have gardens full of dog paste or hose snaggers, who never unlock a gate, who go from monthly to 6 weekly to "leave them, they're not really dirty, we'll give you a call when they want doing". You know, utter $h1te.
The good thing about science is that it's true whether you believe it or not.

This. Many newbies fill their round with crap out of desperation and need to turn a few bob. They become very busy in hours worked for the same money as the more experienced and wise get in half the time.
It's a game of three halves!

Loads starting up round here. When others were unable to work we were seen out and still bringing in the cash.
From about 18 months ago when we were passing on jobs to 3 other window cleaners on a regular basis, hardly any new enquiries.
But we haven't leafleted or canvassed for about 8 years!

Loads of new start ups here also.
however , as I have said before , they tend to push more for exterior cleaning, as there is more money to be made.
I see  them constantly advertising on face book groups. .... good luck to them.

I personally view window cleaning as the gateway to the add ons  , although I dont  do a huge amount of  add ons as I am always busy servicing my round  ;D

I totally agree with Darren they realise it takes a massive effort to get enough work to make a decent living, when I’ve seen a new start up they’ve always been cleaning stuff I always turned down you are searching for needles in haystacks for the good stuff if it’s not taken.
The thing a lot try to do is knock doors and massively undercut they do it for a summer and the idiot customer no longer has a window cleaner coz they soon stop coming.
