long standing customer cancelled over £2.....
« on: May 13, 2021, 01:06:25 pm »
large house(i need my xtreme 47 for 5 large skylights at the back of the property)down a cul de sac where i clean 4 other houses....ive cleaned their windows for years for £30 a pop 8 weekly....price notification letter posted yesterday(price up to £32)....cancelled because they say another window cleaner has offered to clean them for £25.....shes said it was a while ago but "stayed with me because id been cleaning hers for years" but now because of the £2 price rise she will have to go with him...... ::)roll ;D.....so the extra £12 a year is "too much".... ::)roll

i very much doubt he has a pole long enough to reach the skylights at the back.....

so what do you think i should do if she asks to add me to my round again in another 6 months or so? ;D

Yes - we always leave it open for people to come back unless they are a total ar$e generally

It's not £12.00 a year.

It's £84.00 a year.

If it was a job by itself with no other work next/close to it, i would drop it, and think get on with it. But as its a cul de sac and you do others in there, i would think it make more sense to take it back on if they did ask you, (unless it was a crap job) otherwise it can cause a awkward situation whilst your cleaning those around it.

Maybe clarify whether the new guy is including the long reach rooflights in his price.
It's a game of three halves!

Large house, 8 weekly, 5 large skylights, need  multiple poles to clean it..... £30

It sounds way underpriced anyway tbh Daz, let it go.

Agree with this^^^^^^^^^^^^
If it was a stand alone it would be good riddance. I tend to be more lenient when it comes to compact work.

It takes me 30 mins to clean Danny so its worth it with cleaning the other 4 houses down the same cu de sac but it was due a price rise....some customers would let you clean their windows for the same price forever....the thing is £30 is not worth the same as it was in 2012......

Yeah I'd take her back on, if she asks you again.

Ive lost quite a few over price increases this year.

One was a 3 bed detached, new build, asian guy with about 100k worth of cars on his driveway.

It was £10, i put it up to £11 but apparently he cant afford it and has had a leaflet through with a quote for £8 recently so will give them a call.  ???

its weird isnt it?the customer ive just lost was the first job i got down that street too around 8 or 9 years ago....i think my price was more than fair for the work involved.....im not too cheap but im not a rip off merchant either.....shes always been a bit snobby and stand offish though....

the thing is i look on the uk inflation calculator and the job should be close to £37 now adjusting for inflation over 9 years....

Daz, don't worry about it.
I know how you feel, you've done a good job for years and years, always been nice and polite and then this happens.
The only reason you've posted this, is because you care and you're miffed about the whole situation!
Some window cleaners wouldn't care less about it and just say stuff it.
You obviously take a pride in what you do.
Keep up the good work.
