THIS IS HOW WE SEE IT
So over the past 20 years developing a window squeegee that is easier to use in the hand.
Looking at why people have been developing RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury)
Common RSI Symptoms
Symptoms of RSI or an overuse injury can be any of the following:
1/ It is burning, aching or shooting pain.
2/ Tremors, clumsiness and numbness.
3/ Fatigue or a lack of strength.
2/ Tremors, clumsiness and numbness.. It is often difficult to perform even simple tasks.
5/ The first signs of RSI may be soreness, tingling or discomfort in the neck, arms, wrists, fingers or shoulders.
5/ The first signs of RSI may be soreness, tingling or discomfort in the neck, arms, wrists, fingers or shoulders.
Symptoms may disappear when you stop the aggravating activity. It may take only a few hours for the symptoms to settle or take as long as a couple of days.
Unfortunately, over time a minor RSI can turn into a nasty chronic injury.
Extra stress in your work or taking fewer breaks can make your symptoms much more severe and long term.
What Causes RSI?
Many factors can cause RSI. They include:
Repeated arm use for too long
(Working with equipment that doesn’t fit your body)
Working too fast
You do not have enough recovery breaks.
Holding your muscles in the same position for a long time
Lack of training in the safest way to carry out a task
Lack of variety in the type of work you do
Working in cold conditions
What’s Injured by RSI?
RSI potentially damages your muscles, tendons, nerves and joints (through repeated micro-trauma.)
WHY
So relating to using a squeegee and reason for developing RSI
is:
1/ Working with equipment that doesn’t fit your body.
In this case we are talking about the actual squeegee handle.
All handles for squeegees have never been designed to be held in hand while squeegeeing.
All were designed to be held or griped for other uses.
This is why it is causing not everyone but still causing RSI over time.
2/ Repeated micro-trauma
Found the fingers seem to be what is causing the RSI.
In particular your Ring and Little fingers are the lowest strength wise.
Yet they are the most used in way of Repeated Micro-Trauma due to the poorly designed squeegee handles.
Because while holding/griping round handle found that have to do many micro grips.
On a curvature handle at the base to stop from slipping around.
And this is why we have put a flat sides on base of the squeegee handle.
You have better surface contact then if the handle is round at base.
And have much lighter grip little or no Micro Grips.
