Any body else have business account with them?
They sent me a questionnaire about 3 months ago and some of the info they wanted I was not comfortable giving.
Yearly turnover and profit are just two.
I binned it but they have now sent another letter telling me to fill it in and send it or they may be restrictions on my account or even closure.......it's genuine by the way not a scam.
Any body else had this?......I'm not filling it in, if need be will move account.

Before you annoy Barclays too much just know that opening a new business bank account is not easy at moment! Natwest have just taken 4 weeks to open a new account for us and we do our personal banking with them! CoOp bank say it will take 12 weeks!!!
I'm not saying I agree with what Barclays are asking but just check out how easy it is to get an account at moment before binning them off, not that they sound like they deserve your business.

I took it to the bank to confirm it was genuine due to the nature of the questions, for instance what is your sort code and account number but they confirmed it was genuine....plus got the second letter today....can't submit it now anyway because I binned it.

I have had these going on for about 4 years, its all to go with money laundering, they want to know your turn over to compare to what you pay into the bank,  its something that wont go away they will keep on asking, they have moved my account from a small business account  as due to turn over i now longer can be classed as a small business in their eyes.

Ask then to show you where in the T&C you signed that you are required to provide the information! I would be surprised if they can show you the condition.
I was asked what my turnover would be for a new business startup account from Natwest!!! How the heck do I know that when I haven't started yet!!!!

I currently had Sterling personal and business accounts, basically business account is just personal as can’t use trading name ,

So decided look around found Monzo, opened personal then business straight away , £5 a month costs, also let you use your business name on accounts

Had the same some years back with hsbc. Information mining. That say it’s for security. I think you get picked at some sort of random.

Now with starling. Brilliant. Smooth switch. Great running as well. Opened personal account, as you have to. Then a business account.

Thats strange, i have Sterling personal account and Sterling business account. The name of my business account is "Clean and Clear " ? Mines all free.

Business accounts are a funny one. If you are a sole trader then while you can have an account as 'trading as' xyz I believe under new BACS rules where account name is checked when a customer sets you up as a payee it's the persons name not the Trading Name that has to match!!!!! I was told it is because the person is the banking entity!
If you are limited then the business then the ltd name is the entity so you can use the business name and it works fine on new BACS rules.
Also if you are a Partnership - not ltd you can also have the account name in the business name and it works for BACS - just done this with NatWest and account name is business name.

This may be the reason some have business accounts in business name and others only allowed 'trading as'.

Mine's trading as......when you pay in you get a choice of pay person or business so depends which you click on....click on person it will be ok using just your name to pay in.

I’m with Barclays for online payments only as they charge way too much for paying in cash/cheques. Never had that from them yet. I use Santander for the rest as it’s a flat fee for however much you pay in . I’d be tempted to move everything over to Santander if they did that. Only reason I haven’t is the app is so good

Until the early 2000’s banks in this Country used the money invested with them to gain a phenomenal amounts of interest and most of us enjoyed free banking.  I have to say that having banked in Germany, USA and Spain and spoken to many friends who bank in other Countries  the UK as far as I am aware is the only country you could get free banking. 
Now in this modern day and age Interest rates are close to or-at 0% in most cases so banks are looking at other ways to make money.  That means in most cases they want to charge, especially those with business accounts.  I have 2 business bank accounts and I pay a monthly fee for both albeit very modest in my mind but for that I get a decent online service and I have access to an account manager.  So in my mind paying for a business account is just something I accept with running of a business .  Like any other expense you write the charges against the running  off the business.

It’s not against the law to use a personal account for business but it’s contravening  the terms that we agree to by using/ signing up with the bank.

Well they have re-sent the form and am still not happy with it....wanting expected turnover, suppliers I deal with who aren't in the UK, what %age of monies I receive in cash, cheque, electronic payments etc and similar for paying out.
My name address and trading name is on the envelope I received it in but they want that plus paper proof of the address and also my sort code and account number.
