Reel onvan floor
«

My other van has the reel permanently fixed above the tank . I am just setting the other van up , but we want this fitting on the floor or slightly raised . Near the back doors . Preferably so it can also be removed . So the van can be used for going away camping etc . Any ideas . Cheers. Barry .

Bolt it to the roof mate and save the floor space

My Berlingo has 4 anchor D rings near to the back doors. Rather than spot welded they are on bolts . I removed these and replaced with suitable bolts and washers. This meant I could attach ply to it with reel screwed to it along with my diy'd battery/pump/controller box.

I have claber reels (cheap £40 jobbies).
I made a wooden base for the one out the back doors to sit in - a bit like a drawer in a sideboard made to fit snugly from plywood and 3" x 1" sides. The reel sits in this.
On the front piece is a screw with a small piece of metal 25mm long x 12mm wide that pivots on it (like a short piece of meccano or a kitchen cupboard corner strengthener flattened out.) across the bottom bar of the reel.
If I want to take the reel out and put it on the floor I pivot the bit of metal to the side, out comes the reel. (Obviously enough hose on it from the pumps)
The base of the reel holder is just masticked to the floor rubber. Although self tappers could be used. Or a piece of 2 x 1 tight between the wheel arches and the base screwed to that.

Work out the side door, not the rear.
Fix the reel to the top of the tank using 22mm plastic, copper pipe fixings. (I think it's 22mm) This will make the reel easily removable. Take out the tank, job done.
Just screw the fixings straight into the top of the tank, you won't hurt it and it's rock solid.

That sounds good that . He has twin sliding doors as well . Could mount it on some kind of swivel . . So you just screwed the pipe clips straight into the tank ?

I screwed the pipe clips straight into the plastic tank and it's rock solid. You need good screws.
Don't bother with a swivel, if you have twin sliding doors, you can pull out either way with a fixed reel...you pull OVER the reel to go out the passenger side and pull out UNDER the reel to go out the driver's side.
