I seem to remember Alex saying his father was left handed and had no issue operating their smart clamps. My son is left-handed and he also has no issue operating the clamps of his Gardiner pole.

I’m left handed.
I don’t see how the levers are right-handed?

Me neither.

If anything, that looks left handed to me.

left handed people hold the bottom of the pole with their left hand and adjust the lever with their right hand meaning the lever is the wrong way around

Do you never swap round to even up the wear on your body? Working 100% of the time with left at bottom will be putting all the wear on one side of your body, best, if you can to swap sides every so often.

ideally a left hander would use their right thumb to open and close  the lever ,instead of reaching around the bottom of the pole
and using the index finger which often gets pinched in the clamp

Lefty here

Never thought the pole clamps were had to operate with the right hand - in fact I'd say I can operate the clamps better than most right handed people

if you are holding the pole in your left hand ,what other option do you have but to use your right  hand to adjust the clamp
then , the lever would be better the other way aroundso you could use your thumb

I'm left handed, no problem at all.
I have all the clamps lined up on the top side of the pole.
Flick them open with right hand index finger, close them with your thumb.   ::)roll

thanks robbo you have just proved my point , if the lever was the other way around which it is on my ionics poles you would only need to use your thumb

I'm sure with the clamps on top when you go to undo a clap your right hand is under the pole flick your thumb up and the clamp pops open - extend or retract use thumb to close

Does it really matter if you only use your thumb, rather than index finger and thumb?

I vary between left and right handed and doesn't make much difference, good to swap sides and balance things out

I'd like to master that technique, how long did it take before you felt 'comfortable'?
