Pure freedom controller problem!
« on: April 01, 2021, 03:51:29 pm »
Hi all,

Problem with my controller today.
Bought the system from pure freedom who fitted it November 2019.

Yesterday, all working fine - this morning, just keeps flashing on/off really fast? Can't turn it off or calibrate or do anything with it?
I ended up taking the fuse out of the line to the battery for a few minutes then replacing.
Pump ran down from about 35 to zero then controller flashes on/off again 😖

Contacted pure freedom but they've just forwarded me the manufacturers details?

Any ideas or help really appreciated!

Luckily I've got a 2 x man system and pump 1 is working fine!
Cheers

Check all the connections?
All are fine & clean.
Can't understand why it was working absolutely fine yesterday!
Do you think it would be the controller? Or a pump problem?
As I say, I've got a 2 x man system with identical pumps and controllers and pump 1 is fine??

Cheers for the help 👍👍

Could be the wiring but it sounds like the controller itself I had a similar problem years ago and it was the controller although they are very reliable usually, they all come from the same place in Crowborough and that’s also near Tunbridge Wells 🤣🤣 they are called Spring.

If you rang them they would tell you straight away what the problem is they are very helpful.

You should be able to bypass the controller anyway the pump will just run flat out.

Yeah cheers!
Pure freedom gave me the details for Spring.
I've sent them a polite email but will ring next week if no joy.
Just wonder what kind of guarantee I get these things? The system is less than 18 months old and my last controller never missed a beat in over 10yrs till I sold the van.

Spring will ask for the controller back so they can identify what the fault is.

I believe that warranty does have a time limit.  See their terms and conditions.

I don't know what the terms and conditions of sale are of your model controller as it could most likely be a V11 model.

A company can't guarantee a product forever. A warranty normal covers faulty workmanship or components for a stated period of time. Sometimes components can fail after the warranty period.

Two of the most common reasons for failure are water ingress and incorrectly connecting the battery up after taking it out to bench charge it (reverse polarity.)  In both cases these aren't a justified warranty claim even if the failure happens during the warranty period. These would be termed as operator error.

We have 2 Varistream digital controllers that are nearly 13 years old. We also have an analogue Varistream that's older still.
A local windie has 2 Purefreedom controllers (Spring manufactured) which are even older than the ones we have.

The older I get, the better I was ;)

Emailed Spring and they got straight back me - controller is covered under guarantee for 2 x yrs.
I've just got to disconnect and send it back.
Cheers
