Hi Guys,
I have 2 different jobs both with 150 square metres to pressure wash and both clients have no where suitable to dispose of it.
I know both jobs are going to generate a lot of muck and sludge as not been cleaned in a few years.

I have a skyvac 85 (i know they have a new filter sieve with tank upgrade available (£500), questionable whether it would separate water from sludge?)
I dont want to the hassle of taking to tip that accepts vans 20 miles away and it would be too much for brown bin and wouldnt want to flush down a drain in fear of blocking.
Any ideas?
All i can think is trying some tights over skyvac drum to pour out water content on clients site somewhere and takeaway remainder in a wheelie bin to dump 20 miles away and charge extra £50 for the hassle.

We have had 2 letters from the council on separate occasions advising us that if we remove waste from a customers premises we need a waste carriers licence. The council know we are window cleaners and specifically included guttering clearing waste as an example in their letters.

If they stop you, you can be fined up to £5000.

There was a report of some tradesmen somewhere who never cleaned the rubbish out of their van. They had bagged up  rubbish from takeaways etc. They got stopped and fined. I'm not sure of the final outcome, but it made no difference that it was their own rubbish.

If there is no way to dispose of the waste on the customers premises then I guess you either forget the job or hire in a mini skip. Add the skip hire to the bill. I think they charge £99 a day in our part of the world.
A total waste of resources I know. But I can also see why the regulation was made.

Just to confirm - you will need a waste carriers licence - your options are to get a licence or risk getting fined or bag the waste and let the customer dispose of it, but this should always be explained before taking on the job or charging for mini skip/tonne bag for it to be removed by the waste carrier and add  that cost onto the job again notifying the customer before starting the job ( ie when you quote )

This is a very interesting thread and something I'd not considered.

Thank you for posting.

You also have to specify which waste you are transporting and how you are going to dispose of it according to our council letters. Our council listed a cost for the licence and requested how we planned to dispose of said waste.

Is gutter residue something we create during the course of our work? It was already there; we are just removing it.

Question:

If you become registered where do you have to take the waste ? do you always have to go to the "tip" and will they charge you?

Our council tip needs a permit for a van to dump stuff. The permit is only valid 5 times a year and that has a cost.

Garden soil waste is a separate cost added at the tip. Is gutter debris classed as garden soil? There is also a charge for builder's rubble. The tip will only allow permit valid vans to enter and off load between 8 and 9 in the morning with an appointment.
We need a prior arranged appointment for cars through the rest of the day.
No dumping of garden soil in the local beck.

I would imagine that you will then have to take your clearings to a local waste disposal company specializing in that waste and they will charge you.

Our next door neighbour is a waste disposal broker. He has specific companies he uses for say removing and disposing of asbestos and another company handling waste oil.

For us it's easier to just not do a job where we can't dispose of the waste on site.

We usually just tip the vacuum drum out into a flower bed in a neglected part of the garden. This is all agreed before we start.

It doesn't make sense to hire a mini skip to dump 40 litres of gutter clearings tbh. In fact, the last job we did included a conservatory and that was about 15 litres of clearings we removed.
Our council is making the disposal of waste so difficult. Then they can't understand why there are so many fly tippers.

Agreed

Domestic works are tipped into a flower bed/similar as agreed just like yourself

but yesterday the guys did 4 runs on an industrial unit with  full 22 sacks of seagulls do, do - a skip was required !
