Its a funny old life
« on: July 14, 2006, 08:23:26 pm »
One day this week as I pulled out of a customers drive a lady on a push bike stopped me, and asked if I could give her a price. I asked directions and she stated she lived down this no through road at the end on the left.

Later that day I went to price up and was deep in thought and turn on road way to soon I went up and down  the road and could not see her hose name. So I pulled into this drvive to ask directions. The woman of the house was talking to another woman out side.

I got out the van and asked if they knew where this house was, she told me I turned to soon. And said can you clean my windows price it at £25 she saiid great then the other lady said can  you do mine, that one was also £25.

Then I went to the original Ladys place and it was Big I got the house every 4wks at £40 and the conservatory £30 every 8wks.

Its a funny old life if you wanted the work you wouldnt get it.

Roy,

Last Friday, we had a similar experience, when one job leads to another, to yet another.

We were in Shirenewton cleaning the Tredegar Arms and some posh lady walking her dog asks me for a quote.

The house was just round the corner, a large place and we quoted and got it for £30 (though I wish I quoted higher; her gardener even seemed posh and later into the clean an 'interior designer' called).

But this lady then said to call into the Spar shop, since she originally asked if they knew any window cleaners and they said they didn't, but wanted one.

So we did; that was another £15.00 every two weeks (house as well as shop), but then they referred us to one of their staff who wanted a window cleaner.

So we ended up with a lot of work we didn't expect.

With it being a Friday, we were frightened to make eye-contact with other people, just in case they 'nabbed' us too.

We planned an early finish.
