You have it connected right way round? i.e. single connection on 4040 is water in from filters and the dual outlet end is pure + waste. Pure usually centre and waste is the off set one.  You have set waste to about 60% and pure to 40% ish?

Normally the pure comes out into your DI. The waste usually has a tap on it to set the ratio. When you first get the RO  you open tap up and flush for 30 mins to 1 hr (or what ever manufacturer says) then close off the tap so you get a ratio of somewhere between 2 waste to 1 pure to 60%  waste to 40% pure. You can just put each pipe into  different buckets/jugs and adjust the tap to set the ratio and mark the position of tap. The slight issue is that each time you use the ro you should flush it for about 5 mins then turn the tap back to the correct ratio setting. The reason you flush is to 'clean' the ro of the tds you have taken out without any restrictions. Then you use the waste valve to set the back pressure so the ro is allowed to dispose of the tds it is extracting from the ro. The ratio also depends on how high your tds is going in. The higher the tds the more waste you should allow to flow per unit of pure.
Some suppliers will supply a tap that has a hole drilled through the valve so you can't completely close off the waste tap. If you disconnect the hose from the valve you might be able to see a hole when the valve is 'closed'.

You should NEVER run the ro with the waste completely closed as you will destroy the membrane fairly quickly!!!

Hope that makes sense?

PS Took me a while to write that but looks like you have a higher flow now. But make sure you get the ratio right to avoid clogging up the RO.

I've been lucky I got a pf system with a van I brought the gate valve has a 2mm hole in it - open up to flush - close it all the way to produce pure

so simple even the lads can't f@@k it up  ;D

Ironically I checked mine today. I do 3 litres a minute with a high TDS going in. My water pressure is very high as we live very near to a pumping station. My RO’s last about 1.5-2 years but water in bucks is super high.  I don’t mind replacing earlier than usual as I applied for the water abatement discount and got 80% discount in waste water. Happy days. I know it’s not the best way to treat your RO but it works out pennies in the long run.
