Been asked to clear guttering and clean all fascia soffits and guttering

It’s a regular window cleaning customer
Wife’s really nice 👍
Husband a wealthy retired accountant who sold up his company.

Turns out he’s also an expert in many aspects of my job too

Explained what needed doing and wouldn’t take long

Said I’d send a price in couple of days

I think it’s a full days work 🤔

If you guys don’t want to say prices
Hours to do is just as helpful

I’ll be using Atom for clearing guttering
Think one side will be half full as rear side
Garden side roof has moss

I take too long sometimes on these jobs
But don’t want to be out of pocket 😳

Cleaning fsg will be slx pole and either no nonsense or ubiks

There was bird poo all over soil pipe and wall

But I was assured this wouldn’t take long 🤦‍♂️

Thanks
Lee

Sorry pictures not the best but didn’t want customer seeing me taking snaps 😉

Put your day rate on it then. If he thinks you’re too expensive then he can find someone else who is happy to do it for less.

As soon as the customer intimated it wouldn’t take long, alarm bells would be ringing. Put in a quote based on how long it will take you multiplied by an hourly rate over and above what you achieve for window cleaning as this will be harder work. Then tell the customer to feel free to obtain other quotes, if someone is cheaper than you, let them do it. Personally I would Price it not to get the job, all these apex’s look like a ballache.

I did a house very similar last year probably 2 more dormers for a regular customer took 3 of us less than a day I got 950 for it,there was a little bit more PVC weatherboard on it though but not a great deal. The dormers took the time and effort awkward angles.

Don’t waste your time with day rates hourly rates it’s hard work way harder than your usual days work.

Take a team of 2 around 3.hrs for a clean and clear plus windows

So yes 6 on your own - you won't want to do anything else that day

Would charge 2x your average window cleaning rate p/h

Example - if you average 35 p/h on standard glass then charge 70 x the six hours = £420

That’s great Smudger 👍
Much appreciated

Even if I run out of time and do a couple of hours the next day, I can live with that

There’s also a flat roof around the back with
Some moss and puddles it’s above those big patio doors

He enquired about clearing moss off all roof

Said I didn’t do but he’d be paying £1500 to £2000 guesstimate 😁

He looked at me as if I was mad 🤦‍♂️

You guys might say even more 😁

I would include that unless they specifically have asked - be aware if it's a felt/mineral roof the moss may have damaged it - make that clear before you touch it - hopefully a stiff yard broom will get it off followed by a hypo treatment

I won’t get it and that’s suits 😁👍

Use someone else that’s great

Thanks for the lesson Smudger 😁

Next customer will want a quote on spot cleaning

Eg:  leave that bit, do that bit 😂😭

That’s to cheap in my book these threads are hit and miss it all depends what you are earning on windows,if you can easily knock out that for colouring in glass why would you sod about breaking your back doing that.

Fixed prices. That's no more than 3 hours work unless the gutters are rammed. One of my guys would easily do that in a morning and then do an afternoon's work.

If I was a self employed sole trader I'd charge £400 and take a day.
