« on: January 22, 2021, 11:36:57 pm »
Been a DJ for 45 years full and part time now reaching 60 but built up a great business this past 20 years window cleaning  thanks to WFP but trad before pure came along.
Just want to say to all musicians  and DJs that read this post hope things come back to the way it was this time last year . There are a lot of people in the entertainment industry having a hard time right now .

My next door neighbour's a bloody DJ and he's always playing his decks dead, dead loud.
I've just had to bang on the wall and shout "what about a little respect!".
He shouted back "I don't usually play Erasure but this one's for you".

I was a professional musician for twenty years.. Working 6 nights a week.. Then with pubs and clubs going into decline started window cleaning with my guitarist friend.. Got my own round and built up a decent buisness.. I still gig atweekends up until covid.. First newyears eve I haven't gigged for twenty years this year.. Very hard for musicians after covid probably plenty of gigs but earning money from it will be very hard.. I'm lucky I have my Window cleaning business now

i seriously think all the music venues that we ve played at for years will go out of business soon........

i miss the band...the rehearsals, the banter and of course the gigs......ive not played my real acoustic drums for nearly a year now....

but im lucky as ive got a great electric kit to practise on (and i do at least 5 hours a week) to keep my hand in.i can play along to songs from my phone(drum module has bluetooth!) or just work on my timing, drum licks,etc....

i know some bands are really struggling financially but luckily for us we all have either good jobs or good businesses as well...music is a hobby for me and my mates ( we just happen to make a few quid out of it occasionally)...others rely on it for income and were gigging 5 or 6 times a week before last march.... ::)roll :(
price higher/work harder!
