My brothers friend (same age as me) has had the virus for a few weeks and got took into hospital on sunday night with breathing difficulties..he s on a ventilator now....he s got a disabled young daughter too......
That's not good, Daz.
It can be life changing being on a ventilator. People look at the number of deaths and the age groups but don't realise that many that do survive hospitalisation are left a shadow of their former selves.
Hope he's ok, mate.

Yeah long COVID or the effects from having it are life changing watched something on it the other night,Marathon runner can now no longer get up the stairs without being severely out of breath they are the stories you don’t hear too much about at the moment they’ll be programmes on about this Virus for years.
Another drain on the system will be some kind of new benefit if you’ve had it and are suffering long term, think of all the long term suffers from this and those that won’t be able to work again.

Correct Griff, I have a friend in his mid fifties who was on a ventilator in ICU way back in April, he was in an ICU for over a month. He still hasn’t returned to work.  As well as being breathless after minimal exercise he is also mentally scarred with what he went through, although thankfully this continues to improve albeit at a very slow pace.

Basically they put you into a coma.
Think of all the normal bodily functions that you can't do for yourself and are going to struggle to start doing again should you survive it.
My Dad's mate, a fit ex rugby player, had pneumonia years ago and he had to have a stoma (since reversed) and still struggles to walk.
It wrecked him.

Just be thankful that you’re not in Colchester hospital, there is a strong suggestion that they are downplaying the whole Covid thing, you would probably be told to man up as it’s just a bad case of flu🤪

Final call to apply for the third grant tomorrow!
Don't miss out if you've had a significant reduction in profits because of the virus from November.

Ha! Classic!

I’ve been saying time and time again, it’s bad. Very bad.

But, there is still an incredible survival rate and people with complications are the minority.

We don’t hear about every recovery, we only hear about the bad news.

No one, including me, is denying that it’s not a horrific illness. But that doesn’t mean people should be locked away indefinitely.

People should have the right to go out and do the things they enjoyed, people should always have the right to stay insides and isolate if they wish .

It’s a risk each individual should have the right to make.

Only around 0.8% of fatalities are healthy people under 60. Therefore, we that want an open country, want people free to live a normal life rather being locked up.

It’s not hard to understand, it’s not denying covid, it’s not even denying Covid isn’t nasty, but it is looking at those facts and wanting freedom over hoise arrest for those that choose.

That's ridiculous.
You'd have something to say if NHS staff had the individual right to decide who they treat and who they don't treat.
You are part of society, so you'd best get used to it.

It’s also not hard to understand that due to the high rate of transmission of this virus,  along with the fact that in a lot of cases, those who are ill from the virus require hospital treatment, there really isn’t a viable alternative to locking down. Tell me, without going into a whole new debate of an underfunded NHS, how do you think the hospitals would be coping at the moment if everyone was free to do as they choose?

I think it would be extremely interesting to see hospital admission levels without a full lockdown compared to with.

There is growing evidence lockdowns don’t work, we need a track and trace system and other measures working properly.

Lockdowns supposedly slow the spread, but we have seen time and time again that numbers have come down before lockdowns.

Measures need to be in place, but locking down only delays the inevitable. There are better ways of dealing with it whilst keeping the country open.

Well done Einstein, that is actually the whole point of lockdowns. Flatten the curve.

Although some nations used the lockdown to eradicate Covid.

You only need to look to countries that imposed proper lockdowns early and closed their boarders to see how their hospital admissions were affected.

So what are these better ways of dealing with it other than the track and trace you already mentioned ?
