This virus is highly contagious, human transmittable and it can be spread asymptomatically. You can have a hospital on every street corner but that isn't going to stop it spreading and people dying from it.
so we should kill the economy. Ruin peoples businesses , send mums and dads over the edge trying to home school there kids and locking em in there bedrooms, while trying to earn a wage .
Mate if you get this and get sick you won’t have a business anyway either way it’s a Sh** sandwich.

On the positive side I think we re over the worst of it now as long as the mass vaccination keeps going ahead...most of my elderly customers have had one jab already!(if not two!).....

By the end of april nearly half of the population should have had a vaccine...

I'm hoping my holiday to greece goes ahead in early may....I think by then the lockdown will be eased and we ll have the tier systems in place again.....🙂👍

No the UK should have acted so much earlier similarly to the countries that have dealt with it so much more effectively. Australia, New Zealand, Thailand etc. Closing boarders and strict quarantine would have protected us and given a better chance of containing infection outbreaks and dealing with them. Unfortunately even if these measures were implemented tomorrow its too late . We are now all suffering the consequences of  indecisiveness and inaction. The scenario we are in would have been far shorter and less limiting.

The illness is awful . But there has to be a balance .         Pre COVID .    My wife’s mate is a single mum 3 kids . Walks em to school , then she goes to work which she loves . Her ex husband works , pays his way with the kids and house . Kids are all healthy get out and about .       COVID lockdown . The ex husband is out of work . No money to hand over .but to be fair he tries , he’s doing a bit of labouring but not much . The single mum is now at home all day in a small terrace with 3 kids . They get to the park for an hour when it’s fine and a walk . But she is slowly breaking down .its not right , how many more families like that .

With all respect, it’s not even really a ‘pandemic’ it’s only a pandemic because our health system is too small to cope.

Pandemics are the Black Death, Spanish flu etc.

Not 100,000 deaths over almost a year, with an average age of death at nearly 84 which is higher than the average life expectancy.  And I really can’t brothered to explain how the figures are skewed again. But in a nutshell, most of those 100,000 people were at the very, and I mean VERY, end of their life, and died with ‘Covid in the system at time of death’.

This is the issue, people have been sacred into a frenzy over Covid. It’s bad, yes. But it isn’t as bad as people think.

Again, I know this having a wife that works on the front line.

The issue at hand, is, is it worth the total destruction of the country. In my opinion, and a growing number of people’s opinion, No.

The cure (lockdowns) is worse than the disease.
Look up the meaning of the word pandemic and stop being so stupid.

I’d give you less than a 5% chance of getting away to Greece in May Daz. You’ll have better chance either later in the summer or Autumn tbh.

I'll just move it forward a few months then if that's the case which will be perfectly fine as it's a package holiday with TUI....

they cant keep the holiday/airline industry shut down forever though.....they need a summer season for their survival IMO.....

Yep, they need a decent season this year else it’ll be curtains for a lot of them. The Greek resorts also need an income, having had basically no help from their government and no tourist income for the best part of 18 months now.  No furlough or self employed grants for those unfortunately.

People make their own minds up what a pandemic is.

This is a tiny pandemic compared to previous ones.

If peolle if there 30’s, 40’s and even 60’s were dropping like flys, we’d have a pandemic.

But, we don’t.

So you need to stop being stupid and being caught up with the hysteria and fear. This virus has a 98% plus survival rate. In fact it’s likely even higher than that.

It’s only a ‘pandemic’ because our health service is always on its knees. Again, I know this having a wife who works for the NHS.

It’s bad, yes. But it’s not as bad as people like you think. You watch the news too much by the sounds of things.

No they don't. You are demonstrating clearly what an idiot you are. You tell us how we should be dealing with a pandemic, but you don't know the meaning of the word.

A pandemic is defined as “an epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very wide area, crossing international boundaries and usually affecting a large number of people”. The classical definition includes nothing about population immunity, virology or disease severity.

Point being, doesn’t matter what you name it, it’s essentially bad flu.

Your point is completely redundant. Whether it’s a ‘pandemic’ or not is irrelevant to the point about lockdowns; and there hugely detrimental effect on society and the economy.

So in your view point both the parents should have carried on working get infected and potentially die leaving 3 kids orphans, that makes perfect sense 😂😂😂 fit someone who wife worked in the NHS you clearly haven’t got a clue about any of this , and if you wife says the same neither has she ,

Bit harsh...

Cleaners are a much needed workforce in hospitals as well, you know!

It’s not just ones with underlying health issues or the elderly that are affected and dying from this it’s younger fit healthy people as well  .
