Door canvassing and leafleting in 2021
« on: December 28, 2020, 08:34:42 am »
Anyone done canvassing throughout the pandemic? (I haven't) I asked this many months ago and others also asked the same throughout the year. It seems people were pretty much against it at the start then mixed attitudes throughout. Now the vaccines are out and Brexit deal is done, hopefully people will feel better and more open to sales.

I'm thinking start Canvassing again in a few weeks time but will be wearing a mask and gloves to make people feel more at ease.

I wouldnt wear a mask outside whilst canvassing.
people need to see your fascial expressions. they need to hear you clearly.
just knock and stand 2 metres back from the door.

I reckon door knocking is asking for trouble in tier 3/4.

that's what I'm worried about but I can't work out if it's something genuinely worth worry about

I don’t think there is anything wrong with door knocking.  just knock and stand back 2m

Personally I think people would be more understanding during this crisis than in normal times, everyone knows it s a hard time for business and we all need to stick together to get through this. If. Someone like a window cleaner knocked  on my door, was decent looking, polite and was honest and said they were struggling during this time and were looking for extra customers I would go out of my way to help.

People now have a Better understanding of COVID , it’s not like when it first hit and everyone was scared they know that there is little risk when people keep their distance.

I have been leafleting since September and picked up loads of work; about 50% of it has been good.
I'll start again mid January, 4,000 per month.
As for knocking on doors, do it.
I probably talk to more people now than ever.
People just want to get back to 'normal' and what's more normal than your local friendly window cleaner touting for a bit of work.
Get on it!

I still say it depends where you are. Infections here have increased by 200% in 14 days and we're in tier 4. Probably 70% will be fine but do expect some unpleasant feedback from some.

That is a very fair comment, I am tier 2 at the moment, not sure i'd feel comfortable knocking in tier 4.
