1 of the fitters said to me you don’t want to be spending 150 on a tyre for a work van I said no I’d much rather come back in 8 weeks and ask for another 2 crap ones for 90-100 quid each you fool,I said to him I’ll pay for them you fit em numpty ed.

I had these X climates fitted I meant because the others lasted no time at all I had 4 Toyo tyres and they were absolute toilet during that hot spell earlier this year they lasted 2 months,I left the backs and got 2 Goodyear’s for the front they were pants and the Toyos I left on the back only lasted another 2 months,I’ve had these X climates on for a couple of months and they are brilliant tyres phenomenal grip when fully loaded with water and the ride is noticeably much better,the only thing that I’ve noticed with them is that they are a bit noisy in the wet but apart from that great tyres I’ll only buy them from now.

They are supposed to be very good in snow too.

You really notice the difference on wet slippery roads if you’ve got 4 of these on the van it gives you a lot more confidence.

If you’re just buzzing around town, your needs are probably different to someone driving up a 1:4 hill with slippy leaves and a ton of water in the boot. Get the right tyres for the job.

Budget tyres on my custom. Never had an issue and only needed two new fronts in 4 years. 6000 miles a year carrying 750l of water.

The car though, that’s a different matter, Michelin Pilot sport 4s. Then again it’s a 3.0l straight 6 turbo M140. So I need good Tyres on it.

The van, I’m poodling around town, no need for expensive rubber.

How can you wear tyres out in 2 months?are you wheel spinning off at every junction?🤣

You’re not gonna notice a difference in grip, not unless you’re on a  racetrack🤣. Premium tyres such as Michelin will wear much much better though.

Continentals on a transit custom.
650litre tank, full most days, 8000miles a year (ish)

Van ticked over to 4years old earlier this year and put on its second set of new fronts when it had its service/MOT.
The fronts seem to last around 2years, rears are still the originals

Don’t drive like a  kn0bhead and the tyres will probably last you longer than you realise.

Always buy decent middle range tyres for van as stopping with confidence and a fully laden van is very important to me.

Had my car fail on a tyre, said they could replace it the same day with a normal cheap tyre for eighty quid, told them I wanted the same as what was fitted on the other three tyres to match which cost two hundred and five instead. Low profile speed rated 19 inch wheels with decent tyres that stop very good in the wet on a motorway doing an emergency brake reinforces how important good grip is as!
 I've been in a twenty nine vehicle pile up on a motorway in thick fog and I was the only vehicle that managed to stop between the car in front and the crash barrier and everyone else behind me wasn't. Quickest car I ever owned (twelve hours) and wrote off as the back bumper was up to my front seats, God was on my side that day.

I've settled on Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S for my truck and found them very good.

They're around £100 each which is mid-range price for A/T and considerably cheaper than BFG.

A very high silica content makes them extremely quiet, grippy and gets me anywhere I need to go.

I've had the first set for over a year and they seem to be wearing well too.

BFG are owned by Michelin that’s why they are expensive , but they do last well

Goodyear eagles on my Custom Sport, they are low profile 18” and are very soft rubber so not expecting too much life expectancy out of them, I’ve already had a blow out on one of them, right through the sidewall😧

I agree if I was just driving round town there’s no way I’d bother with better tyres on the van but I’m not and I do about 60-80 miles a day,I’ve never noticed the ride quality improve so much than with the X Climates massive difference.
I’ve had the Goodyear’s they were rubbish lasted just over 3 months these X Climates are SUVs 50psi in the front 45 in the rear it floats along now.

2 garages have told me the Transit Customs and the Transporters eat tyres if they are not quality and you put the miles on.

My son uses budget tyres on his van and they don't last.

Is it the quality of the rubber or is it that they are mass produced so fast that they don't cure properly? I don't know.

Like I say I had Goodyear’s all round they were still expensive they lasted the same as the Toyos 18”,these Michelin’s are the only ones that have lasted this long I’m on my 3rd set this year.
