SEISS Grant Records Help
« on: December 09, 2020, 11:55:53 am »
So i took the first grant and the second for multiple reasons.  HMRC said to keep records during this time, so i'm now spending a bit extra time and creating a spreadsheet to track everything during this period.  Better late than never!

The problem i am having is that i can't find specific dates for which each grant covered month wise.  I personally believed that the first grant covered the months of April, May, June.  The Second grant i believed to cover July, August, September.  However on the HMRC website it says the Third grant covers November, December, January?  What happened to October?

Also if you try to go online to find out specifics for when the first and second grant which months they covered i can't find the information anywhere.  All the information on the HMRC website for previous grants has been deleted its all gone.  I even phoned my accountant and she went through all her information and could not find any specific dates at all.  She told me the information changed so many times even she doesn't know how to find out which months they covered.

Also i found this information online which is sent down to all Chartered Accountants in the UK from ICAEW.

"The view that the first grant relates to March to May 2020, as mentioned in the original announcement by the Chancellor, has persisted although this aspect of the policy had been dropped by the time the direction was published on 30 April."

I just want to know what the exact dates were for each grant so i can document what our turnover was for each month the grant was paid as to see the exact amount we were down profit wise as a business.

If anyone can help me would really appreciate it.  Don't want to have to phone HMRC and wait 3 hours to speak to someone about this if i can help it.

Thanks.

If your Tax return in the future catches the eye of the algorithms that are lurking in the software that’s when you’ll get a pull,as for worrying about someone manually looking into “you” in ain’t gonna happen.

No - don't fret, you'll be fine.

Yes - don't fret, you'll be fine. You are a lowly window cleaner and they really don't give a toss.

If you have nothing to worry about it doesn’t matter what anyone says to the Taxman you can’t buy cars for large amounts of cash now I think it’s up to 10,000 might be less,if he’s driving flash cars they wouldn’t have been bought for cash.

I’m pretty sure it’s possible if you know the right people mate.

Cars were only a small part, it was the lifestyle that got him into trouble, it caused jealousy, and he was grassed up.

I understand your confusion, Josh,
HMRC do keep changings things but I'll try and help with my half empty glass.

The first grant covers up to the 13th of July. The second from the 14th of July.
They are not to cover any particular periods or provide a month by month replacement income.

The qualifying period for the third grant runs from 1st of November to the 29th of January (2021).
The fourth is expected to run the 1st of February to April the 30th 2021.
These are the periods that eligibility criteria needs to be met rather than the months covered.
