If you kept it for a few years and chucked it in the skip what’s it cost you, absolutely peanuts.

Around 4.5K to have it fitted. Around 1k per year or more in extra diesel, plus whatever you spend maintaining it. After 5 years you are looking at around 10K minimum, which is a long way to buying a new van.

Think yourself lucky Daz , mine spit hot antifreeze in my mouth and all over me when it went bang the other day ........it is 11 years old though !

how did that happen mate?my heater seems normal  apart from the water not getting as hot...im sure its something to do with the mixer valve!i just cant seem to get it set up right for max heat setting...hopefully the webasto guy will be able to sort it next week.....

its the coldest spell of the winter too!

The internal heat exchanger on the unit corroded through (not the seperate water/water heat exchanger), i stripped it down and the burner was pretty knackered so i have just ordered a whole new unit to fit , unfortunately the new version has different wiring and fuel pump so will be a bit more of a job to fit but still can do it myself .

About 10 quid a day to run hot water for 3 years roughly 🤣🤣 you want to get some better paying work then.

Same as my other heater Splash next to no carbon build up in mine I couldn’t believe it when looked inside,I just had tiny bits of carbon no major at all.

How often does your heater shut down in a day or go into half heat mode?mine obviously goes into half heat mode many times during a day as I dont have a second pump constantly pumping hot water back into the tank so when I'm moving between houses or walking back to the van it will go into half heat mode until I plug it back into my return to tank valve.....sometimes mine will shut down and start up again once or twice  a day if I accept a brew off a customer and dont plug back into the tank.....this could cause my premature coked up burner IMO....

Mine from ionics has a valve that diverts water to tank when you switch off the pole .

At the end of the day it’s all about the coinage you look at an AMG line and you think it’s nice but look at the real AMG,same with Mlites and an M.
You settle for what you want or can afford to spend but you know really what’s better.

Yeah and that’s what you are doing when you don’t switch off or dead end and plug straight back into the hose next to the reel Grippa fit, same principle.

Its not the same because i can switch off the univalve and chat for half hour to a customer and my webasto will still be running full chat heating water straight to the tank , without  walking back to the van .

Sounds better than the Grippa in that respect. How old was it when you started having problems?

Mine does all the diverting back to tank too , admittedly it’s only 5kw not 9kw so doesn’t get as hot , but it will still put 35*c on top of the tank temp
It only requires 1 battery and 10L of diesel will do 3 days work , I really must get on with getting a few more of these out there
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

I don’t need to turn off I have endless water and I wouldn’t stand chatting for half hour either that’s costing money not the heater,I wouldn’t buy an Onring from ionic anyway talking of being ripped off and all that.

Aye but you forgot to take into account that hot water somehow makes the brush head go faster, how else can the diesel users get through all that extra work in a day that they talk of? 🤣

? Just surprised you think these Webasto heaters cost "absolutely peanuts" to buy and run. and you are spending in excess of 10k over 5 years just on the diesel to run it.

That is peanuts when you run a successful business , it’s well worth the expense we have them in all our vans , the extra work we do due to using hot  more than pays for  it , maybe a sole trader charging £5 a house and earning £75 a day couldn’t afford it but charge right and have a good customer base and it’s well worth the expense

I have 4 brand new ones sat in my shed , the great thing is all 4 cost less than what Daz just paid for his service  ;D

some of us are not  hand to mouth window cleaners anymore mate struggling along just about paying our bills...i was for many years though.....there is no way a cheap chinese heater is better/more reliable than a webasto heater......ive had a few little niggles but nothing major in 3 YEARS of running the heater.....

mostly it runs trouble free with hot water on tap all year round.....
price higher/work harder!

Gotta admit it, i would like supple hoses.
But i reckon Daz has spent nearly 10 Grand in total over the last few years, apart from anything else my missus would kill me  >:( :o

around £7k actually including new burner/pin and diesel to heat my water every day......7k over 3 years is around £45 a week...i can live with that....its tax deductable too...... :)

i work less than an hour a week to having hot water on tap every day.........
price higher/work harder!
