Mine lasted just under 6 years and had over 12,000 hours run time on it when they downloaded the information from the unit , in that time it was never serviced , and ran flat out 7-8 hours a day  5 days a week , sounds like yours will need a new screen and pin it’s only when it’s taken apart that they will know exactly what’s needed mine needed a whole new combustion Chainbure assembly, not cheap but well worth it as far as Ime concerned.

Maybe you damaged your heater  leaving it that long between servicing?...that's probably why you needed a whole new combustion chamber?....

Maybe but with over 12,000 work by two people that’s over 24,000 hours earnings I think I can easily afford to pay for a new one it’s cheap as chips 😂😂😂😂, work out your hourly rate x 24,000 hours and see what figure you come up with , think that says it all 😎😎😎😎

No with all the bits and bobs it came in over 1k  with hindsight it would probably have been better buying a new unit complete  but it’s working fine now running sweet as a nut if I get another 3-6 years out of it I will then buy a new one ,on a serious note with  over 24,000 hours earning s it’s  not  evan  worth considering the cost , I initially thought it was expensive but break it down to earnings and it’s nothing , when you get yours fixed get them to give you a print out of the downloaded information and work out hours run time ,then divide that by your hourly rate ime sure you will also find the costs per hours are peanuts .

I'd remind you but I don't want to make you miserable and set you off crying. You could just get a grip, not fret about not being able to clean some windows and not be too frightened of supermarkets.

White smoke is usually unburnt diesel , I have had it a few times now , I’m guessing at coked up burner or failing glow plug

I’ve said it for ages  even if you got 5 years out of the unit it works out pennies from what it earns you,the same goes for poles I’m not paying 6-800 for an extreme, pole sit down and work out how much that poles made you if it lasts 18 months let alone a few years that’s how you need to look at it.
As for this Virus Griff life goes on m8 as much as you like to condemn people who’ve been working and carrying on as normally as they can,some people get out and do what they can and some people roll over in the morning and fart and say not today thanks,we all have to just crack on now it’s over I know you’d like it not to be moaners don’t like it when there’s nothing to moan about but in my eyes I think positive we are through the worst of it.

Yeah burner or glow plug is possible also a few false starts will give you over fuelling and white smoke,white smoke when it starts as normal and runs fine and smoke on shutdown 99% of the time is a new burner needed.

Every year 🤣 complete rubbish if ever I’ve heard it who told you that the bloke standing in front of you with his hand out lol,my burner produced hot water for nearly 8-9 years without being replaced.

Grippatank......it says it in their booklet which they hand you when theyve installed your heater!

It should be serviced every 2500 hours or yearly.....which ever comes first......

I've only had it once....and that was yesterday morning....I reckon it needs a good clean out......

I'm sure webasto engineers change the diesel filter,clean the combustion chamber out as well as new burner as a matter of course...

The time you’ve paid for the services after the warranty was to run out if you hadn’t touched it and had to spend a grand you’d probably still be better off,you don’t service the heat exchanger-pump-or burner unless you are changing it the only thing you would need to change would be a filter.
I ran my other heater for 12 odd years and it was still fine apart from a few things that just failed fuel pump etc,like I say they are reliable and a yearly service is overkill.

how did that happen mate?my heater seems normal  apart from the water not getting as hot...im sure its something to do with the mixer valve!i just cant seem to get it set up right for max heat setting...hopefully the webasto guy will be able to sort it next week.....

its the coldest spell of the winter too!

Update....they are changing the burner and asked my permission to change some of the pipe work inside my cabinet...I had a kink in it which he reckons was causing the heater to not be as hot as usual.....he also said the burner was corroded and full of carbon.....

Total cost including burner replacement and labour £430.....I was expecting around the £500 mark.....👍
