I need to increase my water production so is it worth fitting a booster pump I’ve got a pure freedom  2400gpd ro , if you’ve fitted one how much did your water production increase ? Currently taking about 18/20 hours to fill 1000 l Ibc regards Alan

Jeezus , you’ve just reminded me about the good ol days when I had my 300gpd with a booster and was running from 8am to 8am every day trying to keep up with me.
Best thing I did was buy a 4040 and a monster booster pump. Best grand iv spent in ages . Takes a couple of hours a day now just to top up my 1000ltr iBc.

In a word Yes.
The stated 2400gpd of your ro is an un real world optimum performance figure. You're falling well short of that at approx 50lph (50% of the stated ). A rotary vane pump such as pure freedoms or the one I've linked to is going to increase water production significantly. I've a 600 L ibc tank that fills from empty within 3 hours ( so approx 200lph ). You should expect to fill your 1000 L tank in a quarter of the time it's taking you now, so yes it's worth it.

Not sure if MJM is stating the performance  blurb straight from pure freedoms site with regards to 600 lph. If he's filling his 500 L tank in 40 mins that's incredible !

If you got an HF5 40” membrane it’s would fill that tank in 8-10 hours with 30-40psi you wouldn’t need a pump.

4040's like good pressure. They're so much more efficient with it. Just because you can run them unboosted doesn't mean you should. You'll get a longer life from the membrane and a lower product tds. Well, I do anyway. Considering how much people spend on vans, hot systems, extreme poles, electric reels etc. a decent booster pump often gets overlooked. It's a worthy investment IMO if you use a 4040 ro.

I’ve been running an HF5 membrane like this for years it still produces water after RO at 3-7 ,I flush it about once every 2 months for 15 minutes so all this flushing after every fill is rubbish this RO I’ve had for over 6-7 years.
I’m moving everything into another premises soon and will be using a booster pump purely because I’ll need more water at a quicker rate,if I didn’t need water quickly I’d never bother with a booster pump.

You got a good one then. Like I said only my experience. There seems to be quality issues these days, if I believe what I read on here. OP wants to up production speed just as you've mentioned. Even 10 hours is too long for me. But then again, I don't have an automated fill and shut off system. I just like to turn the tap on in the evening and know within 3 hours I've a full tank for the next day's work.

I use this booster pump below, going through two 20" pre filters into a 4040 HF4 membrane.

Water in at 38psi (un boosted), then boosted with the pure to waste outlet tap valve's sweet spot set around 80psi, this pump will make 200L per hour. I Fill a 1000L ibc fitted with a ballcock & overflow, i also use a plug timer switch with it, in case i ever forget to turn it off.
This pump is good, given its a draper (7yrs of use so far), i reckon they are made by clarke, and re badged as draper.

It does, however, it's dry as a bone in there Spruce, never leaked. The only connections that may leak are the hoselock style ones but they are on the outside of the box. They don't leak either probably because they've never worn, they're always connected since I installed it.

I'll add that although approx £300. I went with this one as it's the same rotary vane pump that pf sell ( cheaper minus the bells n whistles that I already had anyway. ). It's rated for continual use as a booster pump.  I liked the fact all I had to do was connect a hose in and out with hose tails. No need to mount it, just sits on the floor in its box, simplicity.

I don't think it really matters but can I ask why you have your booster pump before filters ? is there any advantage. ?
I only put mine after the filters incase any sediment in my supply could damage the pump ( although very unlikely ) and because the boosted supply may put more pressure on fittings/connections ( again probably unlikely because I use JG pushfit ).

I just went off advice from Doug at Daqua. As he sells the pre filters and 4040’s etc , I thought he’d know his stuff when it comes to booster pump position.
