You guys should get yourself on the boards of health.

Lots of armchair experts here.

 ;D

yep......we need to open everything up or theyll be no NHS left anyway as the economy will be screwed and theyll be no money to fund it........
What'll happen to the NHS when we open everything up?
Have any other countries gone bankrupt yet?

exactly this. this s the problem which nobody can answer when they say open up the country and let the virus run amok.

what happens to the health workers?

do we just expect them to keep going to work when they are at risk of catching it in its more severe form?

remember they're not saying only the front line NHS staff will be manning the wards if the NHS gets over run. it's anyone who is employed by the NHS be they admin staff, cleaners, psychologists... if the wards are overrun they told ALL NHS employees they may get redeployed into direct contact with covid patients

and you expect them to just be fine with that and do it?

some of them will for sure, but i know a lot of trained nurses who were close to quitting the first time round with the lack of PPE and what they were being told they were expected to do

If we where to go down the "let the fittest survive" route then we wouldn't need an NHS.

spanish flue was very different tho. it killed loads of young and very fit people including young adults and pregnant women and babies were very vulnerable to it i believe.

imagine what would be happening in the world if that were the case now?

how many people would be saying open up and let it hit til we get herd immunity.

i think i would be hiding in a bunker with a tin foil hat on

Flu is still around and we have a vaccine for it now.
Herd immunity is not a plan of action, it is the outcome. You can't attempt herd immunity without a vaccine or without knowing a lot more about the virus.
Even Donald Trump said that attempting it would be "catastrophic". Even Donald Trump, I tell you.

The choice shouldn't be kill your gran or ruin your business.

That's not the case in countries with competent governments anyway.

There’s a very strong argument to suggest we sheild the vulnerable and the rest of us crack on with normal life, with precautions.

Why should everyone be in lockdown, when it’s the vulnerable that are at risk.

People then say ‘you can’t just shield the vulnerable’ - yes you can. It’s just not a ‘kind’ thought.

The fact is, the economy is totally wrecked. There will be mass unemployment. Huge 3rd party deaths as a consequence of people not getting the treatment they need.

There is no easy solution, but we have to ask ourselves the question, is destroying the economy, and mounting up astronomical debt, worth it in the long run, when this virus is going to endemic for a long time.

Sheild the vulnerable.  Those that want to sheild, by all means, should.

The rest of us need to crack on.

I’ve got friends in the hospitality industry who are on the brink of collapse. Several pubs and restaurants locally have closed permanently. Many small businesses are letting staff go now. It’s getting pretty dire.
You can't just shield the vulnerable; it's nigh on impossible.
It's ok for most window cleaners because we should be able to continue working but many others can't stay away from the vulnerable.
And the economy is not totally wrecked. I know of a way of wrecking an economy with a virus though. Let it rip through the people that make the economy.

You can to a good extent, they work from home (if they can) and stay away from the masses whilst we wait for this vaccine (which it’s looking increasingly likely there won’t be one for some time)

At the end of the day, we simply cannot carry on as we are.

There will be huge economic damage.

You can never 100% protect people. That’s why you minimise the vulnerable contact, and the rest of the country opens up.

There will be deaths. It’s impossible to avoid that fact.

There are several scientists who are now proposing this is what we do. I think people are starting to realise we can’t carry on with these lockdowns. We just simply can’t. The economy will not survive it.

We are now in 2 trillion, yes trillion, of debt.
More than the value of the U.K. economy. This cannot continue.

We have to learn to live with it.

I totally agree with this , in the uk , Boris isn’t really getting any flak for killing people because it’s his fault blah blah . In America, they are blaming trump for every single death. In fact i don’t know of any other country we’re they are blaming the leader for every death, I hope Trump wins .

I hope trump wins too.

Otherwise the world will be laughing at our clown in chief instead.

I won’t be rushing to have the vaccine when it’s available. No way.
As well as the massive damage to the economy as a result big lockdowns. There is all these poor numptys who have missed their check ups for cancer etc who haven’t had the necessary surgery or drugs. 24 million fewer doctors appointments compared to the same period last year.

You can't really be specific about that. It wouldn't be fair on the other aspects of him being a complete MODDED.

How will not having the vaccine help cancer patients?
It will have the opposite effect and might even save lives.

I’m not having one. I’ve heard it’s going to have a microchip in it. They will be able to see if I’ve missed Mrs Smiths bathroom window again 🙄

His near 1billion dollar loans falling due over the next few years (much of which is to the bank of China) suggests otherwise.

Can't be bought?  Where did he get his money from?
He's a proven liar and it does drive tax paying people mad that a 'billionaire' is 'smart' enough not to pay what he should.
So mad that they'll vote for a 78 year old. Driving people mad might be funny but it isn't a good election strategy.
