do you tell customers that you're switching to wfp?
« on: October 13, 2020, 10:07:29 pm »
got the wfp system installed today.  would you message all your customers and let them know or do you just turn up and do it? I'm feeling bit nervous tbh. Been spending loads of time doing it trad on their windows for years. I'm sure I will lose a few customers

If you tell them they have a simple get out. Turn up do a good job and if anyone asks say something along the lines of 'if you are not happy with the results of wfp within 24 hrs just call and I will come and re do the windows'. Also maybe do their doors 'free' and say you are also now doing frames free as well. So they are getting more cleaning for their money!!!
You can also extol the virtue of using less chemicals and windows staying cleaner longer (balance that one against how frequently you do windows).
Also remind them that H&S suggest that working off ladders should only be undertaken if no other method is available and WFP is available!
You may lose a few but you will gain speed and therefore you can get more customers and earn more :-)

I would just turn up and get on with it. If they ask, say oh ive been using this for a while i thought you had noticed already...

Just act as though its no big deal and it wont be.

If you tell them and make a fuss of it they are more likely to question you

Just be confident

I started the wfp 25 years ago the first six months was a nightmare i nearly gave it up half a dozen times .at first i used to do just ups wfp and downstairs mop n blade but someone said to me if wfps good enough for upstairs whats the difference with doind it on downstairs so i did only lost a handful of customers. Anyone quiz s you tell them to give you abit of leeway as you are new at wfp if you have alot of good customers then you haven't got anything to worry about. I would do a little practice on your own house 1st might give you a bit more confidence and also watch them dreaded vents its a wfp nightmare if you get it wrong 😇👍

Don’t overthink it.

Just turn up, do the job, and leave.

Most customers will be fine, but expect to lose some. You’ll be happy to in the end to pick up better work.

Just think about the long game.

You’ll get to the point in 6 months or so that your home by 2pm having earned the same money you would have earned for a full day.

You will think differently when you are up to speed with it once you’ve realised the time saving benefits as well as more money there’s no turning back to the ladder, all I ever use a ladder for now is a 7-8ft flat roof and that’s only very rare I need it for that maybe 3 times every 6-8 weeks.
There is still someone that works the same area as I do and he doesn’t even use squeegees he rings a scrim out in the bucket  and cloths everything including PVC lol,now he is rare.

I waited for a sunny summers day and did a row of old folks houses I have,  5 in a row, and started on themas this is where I thought the most complaints would come but no problem they  were fascinated actually.
Have lost the odd one in last 4.5 years but not one  due to wfp.
I've gained nearly £700 monthly on my round in 4 years without any advertising...people just see how clean their neighbours frames and sills are.......plus dozens of fsg and conny cleans I wouldn't/couldn't have done without pole.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

You were looking for a tank 3 years ago. What happened in the meantime?

the engine got burnt after leaking engine oil. It was ford transit T260. Now I looking for something smaller. What van would you recommend that can hold a decent sized water tank?

I'm hoping to put in a 600 liter  water tank but I want something smaller than Ford Transit T260.

Please advice.
We look at them, they look through them.

Don't tell them at all.

This is what I do:

Clean the windows and be enthusiastic (you've got something better than they've ever had before). There is no reason to be negative.

1. The bristles can get into all the nooks and crannies that your fingers couldn't. Especially that tiny gap between the bottom of the window and the window sill. Use the pencil jets to blow out the dirt in that gap. If you put you're finger over one of the pencil jets, then the other jet becomes even stronger, use this method to clean out that small gap.

2. Clean the sunny side of the house first (whether it's front or back). By the time you have finished the sunny windows will have started to dry. Get the customer out of the house and show them how the windows dry lovely and clean. The top will dry first, show the custy (up close) how clean they are (and there are no marks left on the window).

3. No soap is used, so there won't be any streaks in direct sun.

4. If you really want to impress, wipe the underside of top openers (on the ground floor) and wipe the sills dry. This gives the 'impression' of less dripping water. It does work!

5. That 2 minutes spent wiping bits dry (on the first clean only) and showing the customer, up close, how clean the windows are will be time well spent.

6. If anyone asks, I always say that having wet hands, constantly, ruins the skin on your hands (completely true)  and this system will help me keep my hands dry and does a great job.

7. Make sure you do a very good first clean, frames, glass, sills, doors.

A little bit of time spent on a first clean reaps benefits in the long run.

i posted a printed letter to most of my customers when i switched but that was over 10 years ago now and no window cleaners in my area were using WFP on domestic houses back then....

now most window cleaners use WFP so id just switch if i were you.....

1.you WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS.....
2.YOU WILL PROBABLY WANT TO GO BACK TO TRAD AFTER A WEEK OR TWO
3.IT WILL TAKE YOU LONGER TO CLEAN YOUR WORK AT FIRST

stick at it though as after a few months you ll realise its a much better/quicker/safer way of window cleaning
price higher/work harder!

I would say it takes a couple of years before it really sinks in how much quicker you are,you notice at first obviously but you are just going about your business.
It’s when you look back at records you’ve kept monetary and also amount of jobs cleaned per day-week that’s  you think wow I made the right decision and is the reason why we all say should have done it sooner, switching over is an individual decision I wouldn’t push anyone you have to do it when you are ready.
Turn up and clean with confidence like you’ve been doing it ages take you’re time at first speed comes with experience, before you know it you’ll know they are clean by the feel of the brush on the glass. 👍

Tell them jack sh..       mate

I told 3 of my customers.  That I was going into the wfp.    System  Alll 3 stood either behind me. Or behind the window.  And
And asked questions.  Times money. And what a waste of time it was telling them

If you want text messages all day and night

Tell them.

Sometimes they don’t all let you go at once I can remember it was a good few cleans before people commented, the ones you think you’ll keep and are happy at first sometimes change their minds further down the road when they don’t like the fact you are now earning 3 times what you were before. Just keep taking on more work it’ll ease the stress of any drop off.
