Can cheap a squeegee work?
« on: October 12, 2020, 02:01:07 pm »
Hi guys, I have been going for around 3-4 months now and pretty much all over my work is WFP. I used to do a few trad years ago and always enjoyed the method, anyway I have decided to take on some trad work to keep things interesting but I'm having some confidence issues. I ordered a load of Unger stuff from WCW weeks ago and still no sign of it, as I have some shopfronts coming up this weekend I decided to run to Screwfix and buy one of their cheap window cleaning sets in the hope it would get me by until the good gear arrives but I'm finding the squeegees that come with it impossible to use, I'm not sure if my technique is just sh*t or if the squeegee is unusable. They just seem to bleed through the middle. Has anyone ever tried to use these things in a pinch, if so what was your experience? I can remember being able to fan a widow years ago without putting much pressure on the glass and without having to think about it much but jeez these things have got me panicking Haha. Thanks.

Get onto WCW.
Not like them to be slow on delivery.

Obviously try different pressures, you don't know how hard or soft the rubber is. Also, in the past I have found if your solution is too soapy then it can lead to bleeding. You should be able to get it to work I would think. 👍

Also... try turning the rubber round if you can, just to see if you have a bad edge.

Rethink your decision and go back to wfp.

What's the Moerman pouch like?
I need a new one and I've looked at the one but I might just get a builders pouch. I want one that is strong and one that you can get a bit wet.

Run a blade straight down the soaped up glass, if there is a line then you have a nick in the rubber. GG3 is good on glass.

I bought the moreman pouch last week as I didn’t get on with the unger pouch due to the Velcro coming undone. The Moerman is a bit smaller but has clips which I prefer.

GG3 is toilet don’t take this advise if you like glide and some suds,if you have to put fairy liquid or similar like Ecover it defeats the object of using this toilet stuff in the first place.

I use fairy liquid or a cheaper washing up liquid if I don’t want to many suds,I’m 99% WFP outsides but I do insides as I am today.
Don’t get hyped into buying 5 ltrs of rubbish for 50-60 quid just go and buy yourself 50-60 bottles of normal dish soap  that will last you you’re window cleaning lifetime it does the same job in the hands of a professional like me. 👍

Makes me laugh all the Richard Heads go out and buy GG2-3 Unger liquid etc then say it’s brilliant if you add a bit of fairy to it to give it suds 🤣🤣🤣💩,in the US they use Dawn=fairy liquid you are just agitating the glass the best thing in the world you’ll get from any detergent is slip or glide.
The end result with any traditional window cleaner is in their dexterity and skill if you don’t have that all these detergents the normal fairy liquid or any of them are useless.

I might start importing some of this dirt cheap detergent for about a £1 for 5 litres stick a flashy bright label on the bottle and selling it to you suckers lol,ask most window cleaners they always go back to dish soap at some point when they realise that a £ bottle does the same job if not better, who cares if it leaves a film on the glass get em cleaned if they look good on the day you’ll get paid.

I’ll be getting sent from China I’m getting 5 ltrs for 10 ponce 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 just got to get the labels printed now,I’m thinking Mug”m” clean lol that GG3 and Unger fluid dry you’re hands out so much they look and feel like you’ve been bumping bricks out all day or you’ve had em in a bag of lime for an hour.
