Your not alone!

I have come across this before and I still don't know what causes it. I have seen me take the applicator and squeegee to the glass 7-10 times untill it come good.

Cant explain it.

I thought I was the only one who had this problem and thought I was going nuts!

This happens to me on average 2-3 houses a year.

Are there trees next to these buildings?

I have a couple houses which always seem to have the sap from the trees on.

It will come off with a really good scrub and rince.

Or are these 1st cleans or new windows?

I have had a few where the protective covering has been left on the glass.

You know when you t-cut or polish a car? It looks like that before you buff it up!

There is no trees beside these houses!

I have been cleaning one for 4 years and it happened to me last month.

Its weird

Yes im sure there are some birds nesting nearby.

Personally I cant see that making it happen, but hey I could be wrong?

I've posted something like this before, but have you asked the customers if they have sprayed anything on their windows.

I had a job last year i think it was where the customer insisted they hadn't put anything on the windows, but for some reason they wouldn't come good like they normally did.

They admitted in the end that they had bought a spray from Betterware i think that was supposed to make your windows self-cleaning.

Obviously it didn't work but this left marks like you decribed.

Craig

ps. just seen the posts as i was posting this and i have heard nesting birds can cause this

i do a big house and the only place the windows are oily is at the front where the birds are nesting.it was the owner (a twitcher) who told me its the birds that cause it.
if i eat myself will i be twice as fat or will i disappear?

I have had this just the once.

It was a regular customer and never had any problems with her windows.
One day i cleaned them and a dormer window looked as though it was all greasy as the water was not flowing how it normally does.
Anyway i just scrubbed and rinsed well.
When i had finished i told the customer that there was something weird going on with he glass.
It turns out her window was smashed the night before and it was actually a tempory piece of perspex put in and the glazier was comming back later that day to put a new piece in.
