Vauxhall Combo 1700
« on: September 21, 2020, 08:04:41 am »
Hi all,
Any advice on Vauxhall Combo payload is 595 kg, i'm changing over from trad,  what size tank for a one man set up ?
I just purchased the van at reasonable price wanted a  350/400 ltr , thinking once have hose reel poles etc ,the weight maybe a issue ,
Ladders i carry would only be lightweight for access when required , if have a 400 ltr ,i wouldn't have to fill to max, but the extra ltr's would give me the added water if needed, i don't require a resin vessel as i have a spotless depo close by .

TIA

The payload is a bit low...personally I wouldn't put anything bigger than a 350l in the back.....you may have to get the squeegee out on some ground floor work if you work longer days....

price higher/work harder!

If you can afford it and are comitted to wfp then i would change van.

Of course for now it will get you by

I had combo before for a worker with a 350 tank and even at that once you add everything else it was on its arse.

Ive just bought an old transit connect Lwb as a second van, was only cheap at £1000 and a 900 payload

It will be like being on a boat, i had an old berlingo with a 250 tank for car valeting years ago that was only 500 and odd payload and that was on its arse as well. These car derived vans arent really up to the job.

I’ve a combo with a 350 litre tank in it. It’s too much. Legal but not good for it. Bloody thing won’t die though! It’s the only van we’ve not had recovered.

I’d be looking for a transit 280 or similar.

I have a 350 wydale flat tank and pure freedom frame if you want it.
£50 and it's yours, collect from Bournemouth, works perfectly.

I’ve done about 30k miles in ours. Pretty sure it doesn’t like it.
