Working on neighbours properties
« on: September 03, 2020, 06:18:07 pm »
So today I did a front and back gutter clear and replaced a leaking union joint for a neighbour in the next road.

It got me thinking about the etiquette of doing jobs for neighbours.  Should we charge?  If we don't and others want work doing, do we not charge anyone?   Would be interested to hear others opinions on this.  The obvious being, don't work on neighbours properties  ;D

I hate doing extra jobs like fsg for w/c customers.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

Why wouldn't you charge for your work ?

does the newsagent at the end of the street give you free newspapers ?

i never charge my neighbours for cleaning their windows.....i live in social housing and most of them struggle financially...either unemployed or are in very low paying jobs working long hours for peanuts so i have no problem giving them a freebie while im cleaning my own windows.....
price higher/work harder!

Giving your neighbours windows a quick going over when they live in the same apartment block is not comparable to emptying  and repairing the gutters of someone who lives a couple of streets over.

One is absolutely fine and the other would be absolute madness.

I never charge but I always say I don’t really clean neighbours etc as when I am home I like to switch off. They get the message.

I charge why wouldn’t you just because you live next door,I can reel out from my drive and do 120 in little time 🤣🤣 they want a service just because I live close by doesn’t mean I’m not going to charge for it.

I dont really like working anyway, i hate gutter cleaning in particular so i would begrudge doing my own for free never mind any one elses....

How far away will you clean for free until they are not classed as a neighbour ?

can you come and do mine neighbour, im only in the next galaxy  8)
