does anybody know of any companys who do refillable filters, similier to what ionics use,30 inch clear plastic colour change filter,the reason is i am trying to cut the costs,i use ionics at the moment but is costing me £50 a week to get 1000lts of water,thank you robert

£50 per week for 1000 litres!!!!!!

I am no expert but can safely say my system produces 650 litres per day week in week out and as yet have never changed a filter!

Think some of the experts on here need to help you on this one.

trev,put a new filter in on friday and three quaters of it as gone allready,the way it is going it will run out by friday,so one filter used in a week at a cost of £75,as you can understand i have to cut costs,i have tried to contact ionics but i am still waiting for call,i am hoping someone on here can help,as anybody else experienced same problem with there system.

That is nuts!!! I get through about 1 a yr!
Don't wait for Ionics to ring you, ring them constantly, something is obviously a miss !!
I was approached by a water purification company based in Somerset that sell all sizes of filters, might be worth ago, even when your problem is sorted. Phone No is 01934 741782  speak to Chris Jenkins. Don't know their prices yet though.

The system is ro,when i first bought machine the filter lasted two months,now lasting one week,thank you propole for the advice.

I'm sure that you should be able to replace the final canister stage on your system with a DI pressure vessel. A decent sized one costs about £95 and you can then simply fill it up with low cost resin bead as and when you need to, which should not be very often as the ones we have in stock are 14 litre capacity. This will simply plug in via hozelock type connectors where your current filter plugs in.

Give us a ring on 01726 61143 and we will see if we can sort you out with a suitable vessel.

You can have a look on our website, but we do not list the pressure vessels on the site so ringing is the best solution.

Hi Charlieboy

Just wondering if you have taken a tds reading after the ro before it goes through the di? We had an ionics trailer in for a service same problem, their ro was completely blocked so it was not reducing the tds level at all so in effect they were running di only. If you need any help just get in touch 02882240730.

And as alex says if you want to change from cartridges to di vessel it is really easy, and it saves you money in the long run.

Sounds like maybe your RO filter is'nt working properly. Do you flush your RO weekly?? After you have flushed the water softener with salt you should flush the ro for about 10 minutes. How you do this....Start filling up your tank as normal after the Salt flush. There is a valve under the RO filter, open it up so all water is going through the waste and outside your van (and no water is going through into your tank). Do this for about 10 minutes on a weekly basis to give your RO a thorough flush through. After 10 minutes close the valve fully and take note of the reading on the pressure gauge (at this point all water should be going into the tank and none out the waste) Now, open the valve so the pressure drops about 5psi and you will notice that waste and pure water is now about equal flow.

I have an Ionics PRO-5 (650lt) RO +DI system and this is what I do. Hope it helps!
