What’s the biggest job you have refused.
« on: August 26, 2020, 06:44:50 pm »
Quoted 2 houses next to each other today, first one   at £52.50 first clean and the other at £42.

First house had bushes everywhere and would of been a real PIA , second house reluctantly accepted the price after telling me her old windy only charged £11.

Got home and emailed them to tell them I won’t be doing them,

So not a massive amount but got me wondering what’s the biggest job you have declined?

ive never declined any larger domestic jobs in 27 years of window cleaning......only middle terraced houses and awkward access houses or a small job in the middle of nowhere.....
price higher/work harder!

Can I ask why you declined these jobs
Two houses next to each other can’t get better then that.

The 1st was just a PIA.  Don’t think I’ve ever seen so much lead on windows plus pretty much every window was awkward to get too. Overgrown bushes on all 4 sides.

Second  was setting off my spider senses for a one off plush done nothing but complain when i gave her the price.

I know what you’re saying 2 decent jobs next to each other but sometimes it’s just not worth it.

Turned down a big shopping complex, too much work, would have had to employ again and didn't wish to go down that route .

Obviously you’ve  not priced them accordingly or else you’d have been happy?

A £6K block of flats in London. Priced it up.

6 months later they got back to me, by which time we were too busy to be bothered.

I turned down a £400 job not too long ago.

Someone rang wanting windows and a stone archways  cleaning. I figured I could softwash it...

After I'd quoted it I realised I had never done soft wash before and didn't fancy winging it  :D

The Hatton Garden job.
I decided that the rest of the firm were too young and inexperienced to pull it off.
Or do the robbery.

I went to quote a new Retirement Home complex, it was massive, 3 storeys, more like a big school, all exterior & interior
glass, including stair glass Balustrades etc, the Project manager said the Builders clean was done already, but i could see
it was a  poor excuse for a builders clean, i just said for me as a one man show, the job was to big, i recomended a local
commercial window cleaning company, that would send a team in, and do it in days, but he said they would be too expensive.

Yeah cheeky sod to expensive it makes me laugh people build a huge lump of there house and moan when the window price goes up,they have a big building you say 3 floors it’s going to cost them did they think they’d get the man that’s on his own and get him to do it for peanuts then.

I once cleaned a house for a few years at £17, always pleased to see me and paid well...
Then one day I got to the job and she had a massive veranda sloping roof built at the back of the house with clear glass and asked if I could clean it I say yes but it will be a extra £10 each time her face drops but says ok...anyway I cleaned it another 2 times then get a text to say she wants to cancel me as the husbands not happy with the service and she found another cleaner who would clean the house and veranda roof for £17  ;D I sent a message back saying no problem ;D

Good Riddance, she did you a favour cancelling, i'd say that £10 extra you were charging wasn't enough anyway SB.
