help! sanding the van floor before painting
« on: August 26, 2020, 07:40:51 am »
Please see attachment for the sanding I've done so far. Been sanding it with 80 grit papers. I'm asking because I don't feel like i'm making much difference. The surface still feels smooth

You didn't need to sand that much  all you needed was a scratch pad from your local car parts shop and just lightly sand it so the paint was dull

I'd have just painted straight on there, a wee scrub with a brillo sponge Bob's your uncle.

What are you painting it with?

Thanks, I'm painting it with bullyliner. According to their website you can paint it even if it's bare metal but I might be looking to get some under coating going just to be sure

Googled it and sounds interesting. Please post the results here. Compared to rhino, protectakote etc. It's water based, no fumes and quick drying. Any unused keeps in the tin for retouching if needed.

It looks very interesting.

If a single pack, rubberized product can perform as well as 2 pack version I'd be very impressed and tempted to use it myself.

There is a YouTube video comparing Raptor with Bully. They painted half the side of the pickup with Raptor and the other side with Bully.
The Bully wasn't as scratch resistant as the Raptor was. That was the only downside.

E and M has put the YT link above on his reply. There's another vid where it's compared against 3 other brands too. Maybe not as scratch resistant as Rhino but reckon it's more than enough for our needs. Bonus being you could get it done on a Saturday and ready for work on a Monday morning. No mess, no smell. Stick a matt down on any areas likely to get abrasion. I'm going to give it a go.

hey Phil, I got it from the UK's distributer Mike. Unfortunately he doesn't stock them anymore. i paid £90 for 4 tins. It's way better than protectakote
